Yes, THANK YOU! I appreciate knowing. I thought perhaps the "watch" duty would require them to be outside some? Does anyone know where that takes place?

No form letter yet @lemonelephant. I do not know his division. All I know he left on January 4th and I got the "Im here" call at 1:45 am on the 5th, I received the "box" on the 10th and ......silence.

When they are outside in this kind of weather the recruits are bundled up so that you can't see much more than their eyes as far as exposed body parts. They are very well taken care of.

All training is indoors so the only time they are outside is when they are moving between Ships.

They do have to march outside occasionally, to and from places mostly, I think. They are issued cold weather gear such as gloves, hats, coats, etc. And yes, there are times they will shovel snow. Oh, go like the RTC (recruit training center) page on Facebook as they post pictures occasionally. Last year when our sailor was there, it was cold, but only snowed a couple of times. The wind is brutal up there.

I honestly considered that I was the ONLY one that had a hard time with "the box". I could only imagine his state of mind as he threw everything into it that attached him to civilian life . His watch, phone and other items that he always had on him, he packed with a bit more care than his clothing and shoes. It was an odd experience rambling through his belongings looking for some sign of personal note or clue as to how he was feeling. Now, I just want to know when I will get the address so…

It was an odd experience rambling through his belongings looking for some sign of personal note or clue as to how he was feeling. Now, I just want to know when I will get the address so that I can write him. Also, I see that the temperatures are pretty brutal. Does anyone know how much they do outside in these conditions?

I'm not sure that we were still adjusted when our sailor graduated boot camp. I know the dog was still wondering where he'd gone. It is much easier after BC, when they can call/text/facetime/message you. Thank goodness for modern technology. Hang in there, moms!
