My name is Darlene and I am the mom of the Sailor who was robbed at gunpoint and shot Saturday the 10th, just a couple days before his ship pulled out of New Orleans. He is doing okay he says but sounds a little down in the dumps at times. His leg is still bleeding and oozing he said after almost a week and he said it still hurts right bad. He could use some cheering up if anyone wants to help...we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi Darlene, I would love to send him some Navy mom cheer, Anything particular he likes or needs right now?
He loves Slim Jims...lol chap stick (actually he like the blistex stuff in the green) I don't know what you want to do exactly. He's not much into candy...they took his wallet and every penny he had to his name.I can't do anything as far as getting his money he had in his bank account to him because we didn't do the POA. They closed it all down and he has to wait til he gets a chance to go to the bank (Wachovia) himself andf get the stuff staright. Will have that done as soon as I see him again though I know that. But anything you wanna do for him he will greatly appreciate. He had just given me a list of stuff he needed socks, tshirts, body wash, tooth paste, deodorant, and razor blades but I haven't been out yet to get any of it. Lots to try and take care of for him in others ways still. I did get him a driver's license ordered and it came in today. Had to do it online...but we do what we have to do sometimes. Waiting on some other stuff to go thru as well. You can email me directly at the email address I am sending you.
I send to the troops all the time, I have most of this stuff already, such as hygiene items, socks, razors, wash cloths, I did send you an email, let me know what size in tshirts and I can add it in. I will throw in a snack or two! LOL
add me to your list plz

i live on the outer banks of nc and am 1 1/2 hours south of norfolk, va. i grew up an air force brat and my dad was always bringing home the (strays) single folks, especially for the holidays. so, that said, if anyone has a sailor stationed in the norfolk area and want to be adopted for a home cooked meal, a place to go for the holidays, someone to be on the pier when they come home or just someplace to go to get away for the weekend let me know.

i have 1 daugher in the navy, 1 going in 6/11 and a son going into the army feb or march 2011. i've lived here for 28 years so i'm not leaving any time soon. i have 3 kids and 1 grandchild of my own but have about another 20 that call me mom and 2 that call me nana and have for about 15 years. my brother and his family live in chesapeake and he retired from the navy after 20 years.

so, if anyone has a lost and loney kid just give me a yell.
