Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Why are my messages not appearing? I simply stated that I am a nervous wreck with my son gone to bootcamp with the first couple of weeks being in quarantine. It’s like I can’t even say that I wish he hadn’t joined because of all that is taking place currently. Why?

Hi TV,

We are glad that you are here. I am not sure why your messages aren't showing up. If you are on your phone it's hard to see the comments on here. Using your desktop or laptop is much better. If it's still not working try logging completly out and then log back in. Let's see if that works.

I will post some links for you to read over that will help you. The first couple of weeks of no communication are hard but we are here for you. Keep your phone on you at all times and that ringer on loud so you don't miss any calls. Big hugs to you, it will get a little easier. Start writing your letters now so when you do get your form letter you can mail those letters off right away!!

When did he leave? have you heard from him yet?

***INFORMED DELIVERY UPDATE***

For those of you who have USPS Informed Delivery,  I received an email today that they are discontinuing the App as of 6/12/2021 and you have to download the USPS Informed Delivery Mobile App to your phone.  I just did it and the process is pretty simple.

First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

TV, hang in there, it gets better. Calls may or may not come, no news is good news!! Really!! My sailor graduated from BC in June. He left in March and I haven't seen him yet. Quarantine worked out to be good for my sailor, got him acclimated to being away from home before the REAL stuff started. Keep looking for that form letter,  start writing letters and keep your ringer on loud. I believe I got a total of 3 calls during BC, one of those was the "I'm a sailor" call. Sending hugs and  prayers for you!

I know how you feel

TV - I posted a note on your profile page in the comment area there. But I wanted to say hi here also. I concur with Partyofseven on checking this site on a computer.

Also, you posted this question in the General Discussion area. Did you post your other statement in the BC Mom group? There is nothing wrong with you venting and sharing your feelings. As far as comments being approved, I don't think there is a "waiting" period. So if you see something not post that you typed in, just try to post it again. And refresh your device as well.

If there is something that you post that is a concern due to dates or specifics being shared that should not, you will likely be contacted by a site admin privately or they will just XX out those dates in your post but otherwise, it is rare for us to delete any post and only you or a site admin can delete a post on the open forums. Any place you see a blue x in the upper right of a comment, you have the privilege to delete. Including comments posted by others on your My Page.

The emotions you are feeling are real and we suggest starting to write letters, just telling your SR about things you are doing and stuff going on at home, they still want to read about those things but keep the news positive and upbeat - Write your fears and frustrations in another journal that you can either shred, burn or destroy later if you wish.

Release those feelings that you have in a safe manner, even punching a pillow - but don't share them with your SR. And also stay busy. Find a new project, yard work, go for walks, things to occupy your time.

BNMHs (Big Navy Mom Hugs!)

Hi Jessica - this site is not the most "user friendly" and if you post in the General Discussion - which is where this is, it doesn't show up on the main page.  If someone comments on your post it will show up on the left hand side of the main page under "latest activity" but even that only shows up sometimes and then it eventually goes away.  Again, it's the NING site that runs this website and there is nothing that us as admins can do about it.  It's an antiquated system that is being used.

Your best bet is to post in a direct group - more people will tend to see your post and respond.
