My daughter leaves the same day!  Dropping her off Monday at the office(Valpo, IN)...uugghh going to be so hard, but we couldn't be happier or more proud :)

Well the time has come :( my boy goes to Boston tomorrow then he leaves for boot camp Tues AM. I'm so proud and heart broken at the same time.

My son also left on the 26th from MEPS in NY. There were 14 total in his group for Navy. He reported Monday to MEPS for paperwork and stayed in a hotel overnight. Reported back to MEPS on Tuesday for swearing in and last physical. By the time he got to GL Tuesday night, he said he was nervous and excited, but wanted to get this going already. It seemed to calm me when I heard how excited he was. We were lucky enough to meet him for dinner at the hotel on Monday evening. We are from NJ. Look forward to communicating with all of you.

We've just dropped our son off at the recruiting office, he'll fly to Great Lakes from San Jose tomorrow. The weather change will be a shock to his system!

My Son left on March 26th

My son left that day too, it was an emotional day and we felt honored to have been there to watch the swearing in ceremony. And now we wait!

how is everyone doing today? I cant get my boy out of my mind

I'm with Collette. Dropped AL at the recruiters on Tuesday, Met for dinner at the hotel on Tuesday Night and then went back for his swearing in On Wednesday morning. There were only 7 of them so it was very intimate. He texted me when he landed and had a 20 second call basically telling me he'd call in 3 weeks..

So now the waiting begins. On thing the Petty officer said yesterday was WE are not the first to go through this and we are joining the Navy as well. How true , how true.

Have a great day !

having very hard time

I'm sorry to hear that, I stress at night the most.. One mom got the box today :-)

MaryJo I cried anytime anyone talked to me about it at work . I call it Mommy mourning as we know they will leave boys and return men. The hardest part is not talking to him and I keep expecting him to walk in the door at any minute.

It is a good thing they are doing as it is a vocation , a calling a decision not to be made lightly. So proud but so heartbroken at the same time It helps to talk about it though

Wow, I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I thought maybe I was over reacting. It has gotten better, I tear up sometimes, but the major crying has stopped. I'll save those proud tears now for PIR :-)
