For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My Son Leaving for Boot Camp Tuesday January 31, 2012
Im hoping to find other moms out here that have a son/daughter going to boot camp at the same time. It is only 1 week away I have so many emotions, hoping Im not alone. Not sure how Im going to handle my life without my son at home. Oh my goodness trying so hard to be strong but it is not easy.

Hi tora720!! My son left today. Your emotions are all very normal. Today alone...I have laughed, cried, experienced fear and happiness. I draw my strength on his happiness. He is living his dream. I sure will miss him, but I am so happy for him. Right now I am a little exhausted and waiting for his phone call. Be sure and try to go watch him be sworn in if you can. I loved it. Be strong though. God bless our boys, and God bless the USA!

My son leaves for MEPS on Feb. 1st, then flies out to GL on the 2nd. We're having his going away party this weekend. Time is flying by. I'm so glad this site is here because I know what to expect and when. I'll definitely be in touch with all of you.

Sancy, how are you? Yes thank god I did get to be there when my son was sworn in. My son is also so very excited, which as a mother you have to be so proud. Is anyones son/daughter going to be a Corpman with a Marine Unit? Brandon is so ready to follow his dream, I know he will excel...Hugs Tora
Futuresailormom - we also are having the going away party for my son, this I know is going to be very emontion for all of us. Sounds like Brandon will be going threw this challenge with a group of wonderful men/woman. God bless our children, please keep them safe...Hugs Tora

My son will be a corpsman with a marine unit. Our boys will probably be in training together for awhile. What day did he leave?

My daughters 22nd birthday is Jan. 31st and she will be leaving for Boot Camp on Feb 12th. I am struggling with the upcoming date as well. I know this is what she wants so that is how I am trying to look at it but boy is that hard!! Good luck and keep everyone posted on his progress.

My son leaves on the same day, I agree with you I am finding it hard but trying to be stong also. He is my only son, and I am just plain worried for him and pray he will like it!

Well the day is hear...he is my oldest and the youngest leaving, my only one...so the empty nest is already setting in. We have been packing his bag this morning, he left to go to recruiters office and finish up some stuff. We are taking him to Indy and having dinner with him and then to motel. He goes to MEPS tomorrow and leaves from there. I am so proud of him this is something he really wants.
But the sound of quiet in the evenings will be hard to get used to.
Good Luck to all you other Moms and families and Good Luck to our sons & daughters making this sacrifice....Prayers for all.......

Nicole, please delete this post (hover you mouse on the upper right corner of your comment, see the "X", click on it). The reason is your email address and profile name on FB contain you real first and last name. It would to not be so open on your profile because it's not difficult to connect you with your sailor recruit. We try to protect the sailor anonymity for their protection. I know you are new and probably overwhelmed somewhat. Please review tip in the Survival Guide For Navy For Moms Newbie (clickable link). You'll get the hang of it real soon. Good luck.
