My younger son and I got to watch his older brother swear in at MEPS this morning.  What a wonderful experience it was. I am beaming with joy and tears at the same time while awaiting his phone call sometime tonight. I can't wait to hear his voice!

You are very welcome.

Do not book anything unless you have confirmation of his PIR date.  Some who arrived on the 25th could have PIR the week before instead if they were one of the last to fill the division.

His recruiter said that in the computer the date of his graduation is November 21st because of Thanksgiving.

I saw that you mentioned that, but proudmommy76(Ms.Monica) does not appear to have any confirmation of the PIR date yet.

Yes, I have not received a letter, I just called the recruiter and he said it is in the computer, and because of the holiday.

Yes I would do that, since the base opens the gate at 6:30am.  I was going to take a redeye but I am afraid that getting into Chicago at 5am in the morning anything could happen, the plane could be late..snow... anything.. so I think I will come in by Tuesday afternoon and get to my hotel.. have some dinner and count the hours to see my son.. It will be  nice..... Maybe we can meet too.

Yes, it's best to arrive the day before PIR because you never know what could happen with a flight and you do not want to risk missing it.

My son had  given me the recruiters card, plus I did go and talk to them, and they said I could call them anytime.  You should be able to call any recruiters office and explain the situation, that you really need to know the date and he can plug his name into the computer and give you the date.

You may be able to check with a Navy recruiter in your area if you have his SS number.

Good Luck to you.  Keep in touch and let me know, (and everyone else).

In case I haven't already mentioned this, if you get the address from the recruiter, be sure to double-check the address the recruiter gives you against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp.  Recruiters sometimes give a generic address for the RTC and if the street address is not correct, then mail can be delayed for up to 3 weeks.

I did not get his address.  I saw that you did say that.  I was just concerned in knowing about the grad date, since I know that tickets will be going up because of the Holiday.
