Brooke,<br />
My daughter just left 3 weeks ago to Great Lakes, 5 months before her contracted ship date. Be ready! She's also going to be a rescue swimmer. She is a certified life guard, which I think will help her. Consider getting certified, I think it will help with your 2nd class swim rating and will keep you in swimming shape. Good luck. If we remember ( next year) we'll let you know what to expect.<br />
Julie, Steph's mom.

<p>hi! i am also joining the navy i leave nov 9th 2011. I first contacted my recruiter in feb this year i was also wanting to do airr. He said okay sure and he took me to meps and i was going to go to meps get a job then do the next pst and get my contract. so i did my depth perception test while i was at meps. I scored an 82 on the asvab and the job they gave me at meps was ctm. well i did my first PST and i did pretty good i only needed to work on my situps and id have my contract next pst. …</p>

The thing is at the pst your going to need to be under the 9s that means a 9min swim 9 min run and above 90 pushups and sit ups and above 9 pullups. you get your contract after that usually. I found out after a while that the job i got at meps(CTM) is actually an amazing job and ive heard its good for when you get out and its one of the best in the navy. So i decided to stick to it because i started to think if i dont retire in the navy its not going to be useful to me to be Airr because lifeguards dont get paid much. in my opinion if you wanna do Airr i would dedicate everything to it. wake up early swim for a couple of hrs and workout alot everydayy. but Good luck and i hope you make it but no matter what you joined the navy so you cant go wrong no matter what.:D</p> google some keywords and webs…tag:navyformoms.ning.com,2011-10-09:1971797:Comment:65407742011-10-09T18:57:24.111ZPraiseGodhttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/PraiseGod
google some keywords and websites will pop up that will link you eventually to many different sites which may provide you with answers. You tube also has shown me all info about bootcamp , PIR , what they require, what to expect etc. I talked to people who may know people who has done the job and asked if its ok to call them. I find that people are excited to tell about their experience and of course I always asked what they dont like about it also AND how and what to do to EXCEL or ADJUST to…

Check out the various GF, wives, finances groups by going to the tabs above, just below the N4M banner at the top of the pages. I think you will find a lot of information there and possibly someone just like you. You would have to join to ask questions, but you can read posts to see which group best suits you, or possibly find someone with similar circumstances.<br />

<p>I just wanted to share with you that my son will also ship off on July 3 for Boot Camp. He will be training with an instructor SpecOps Navy Seal trained in Fitness and swimming. He enlisted in the AIRC. Your recruiter will help with fitness trainers. Maybe our paths will cross at PIR (graduation).</p>

Just like Jimbo said...ask your recruiter who the specops trainer is in your area and start training with them NOW. If you get the contract before you go to boot camp, you will have to pass the PST every month before you leave for boot camp. If you don't pass every month, they could take your contract away from you and your original contract will take effect again. I can't stress enough to start working out now. You can buy a weight vest and start wearing that when you work out. It puts some extra weight on you and strengthens you more without being around your ankles or else where. They are comfortable, and if you train with that on, when you have to PST it will be easier for you to pass....since you're used to that extra weight on you. Run every day and time your runs....get used to running fast. Don't just go for distance. Our son's friend didn't get the contract because of this....he could run real far, but couldn't do it in the time allowed. Try and start swimming every day, do laps and get VERY good at treading water. Good luck to you and your training!!! :) Extra socks also helps.tag:navyformoms.ning.com,2011-10-05:1971797:Comment:65296042011-10-05T20:53:56.994Zlemonelephanthttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/lemonelephant
