shellyh - my son leaves on December 11th as well (from Texas).  I'll be thinking of you!  This site has been a tremendous help for me.  I haven't posted much but just reading the posts have helped me tremendously.

Oh that's great!  We will be worrying together>>>  My son is leaving from Indiana.  I will too be thinking of you....hope all goes well!  I will let you know anything I hear....

We will all be worrying together. Our son left from Michigan. I heard from him last night around 9:30 our time. Have you heard from your son's?

I got my call last night about 10:15 and it lasted about 15 secs....I could hardly understand with all of the yelling...I am sure they are doing fine....will let you know if i hear anything..sending you a friend request...have a good night

Hey Shelly, Another Shelly here.  sometimes in the panic of InDoc they sent their wallets and Bibles home.  Don't worry They will be well taken care of.  DO NOT send a bunch of envelopes and stamps.  they can get them at BC when they get other essential supplies.  Do send an index card with addresses and phone numbers!! You'd be surprised how many kids don't know their phone or parents cell phone numbers!! It's auto programmed in their phones so they have never needed to know it.  They really do not need to bring anything besides their ID and SS Card.  Everything else will either be issued or they can buy it later.  The recruiter will have told them what to bring.  You got this!

Thanks so much for the kind words...nice to meet you Shelly!  I am sure you were once in my shoes and it is very hard to let go. Everyone on this site is amazing and so supportive.  Thanks again...have a wonderful day!

I love that you found this site before your child went to boot camp. It will help in so many ways. I didn’t discover it until mine had been there 2-3 weeks.
New Mom here as well. Mine went to BC Dec 10th. 15 second phone call around 8:15pm. Wish I had known about NavyMoms before this week!

I will add you to my friends list...miy son left 12/11....hang in there.  I will let you know if I hear anything..

Hi Shelly, my husband left for boot camp on 12/11. Hopefully these next couple of months will fly by for us and them!

Me too....I hope they are both doing well.  My son left from Indiana, where are you guys from?  I also added you as a friend...I will post if I hear anything...take care and stay strong!
