HI,

I am wondering if there are any other Navy moms on here that are from the Muskegon area

Our son is leaving for Boot Camp in 3 weeks and thought it would be nice to find some seasoned moms in the area that I can glean from as we move through this new transition in our lives

I live in Big Rapids.  I was a Navy wife for 16 years.  My daughter has been in the Navy for over a year stationed in Japan. It would be nice if we could get a group of us that could meet and support each other.

Im not as far as muskegon but i am in michigan, My son had his PIR at the end of sept. and his A school is out in california, it was hard having him that far away, his first trip that far and our last baby to leave home, its been a big adjustment but he is doing so well and we are so proud!  After getting over the initial homesickness he is into a routine now and loving it.  good luck!

I am from the Muskegon area we have

SR right now any way I can help?  I think the hardest thing for them is being homesick.

I did not relies on how many were so close to me.  I am really really close to Muskegon.  My Son has been in for a little over three years and is just about done with his first deployment.  Not on the water but in the air as he is Aircrew.  You ask your questions and we will help you through them and any feelings you are going through and will go through.  We are her for you!  What an exciting journey your son is starting!  Just wait and see what a great thing this is going to be for him.

I think we should get some moms together in this area so we can support one another.  I know they meet often on the east side of the state, how cool would it be if we did something over here.

Orkymom and Dunesmom, do you either one get together with any other moms?

Our son is in Japan, he loves his ship and is thrilled to be doing what he worked so hard for.  We are proud for sure

I'm all for it!  I do get together with others. the last one was a weekend get a way.  Have had box filling parties a couple of times in Rockford and lunch in GR too.  Everyone from every where.  Never been to one in Muskegon though and would come for sure

how do I go about setting it up?  Do I just put the word out and ask everyone to bring things for the boxes?  Was thinking it would be fun to make ornaments to send the guys and girls; Something special for Christmas

Yep put the word out that there is a meeting where and when and those that can make it will.  It you want to do boxes the best to ask is Lorraine.  She knows lots about what to do and when to mail them out.

thanks Dunesmom...this means a lot.  Hard having our son gone for Christmas second year in a row and now missing first birthday ever.  But isn't that what parenting has been about from the beginning....firsts and lasts. :)

yep it's all a growing for everyone.

Holy smokes!  I never looked at this discussion.  Dunesmom and I get together often.  I'm in Rockford.  My son has been in for 4 1/2 yrs.  We love, love to get together.  Maybe after the New Year.

I am in Cedar Springs. My son has just had his one year anniversary. Have you found your local chapter of Blue Star Mothers? We are a great source of support too. Let me know if you need a shoulder.

Kim
