My son left 8 days ago and it feels like he has been gone for weeks. I have my good and bad days as well but I was extremely strong when I said goodbye. He did not see any tears but I broke down after he left. The phone call was rough too when he arrived at base that night especially since he said I will call you again in 3 weeks. We received his box on Monday and now waiting patiently for the form letter to arrive. I am already pricing flights and hotels near the base and looking so forward to seeing him. I am glad I read this thread because it did make me feel alot better.

Thank you lemonelephant.

Hang tough.  I'm counting down the days to PIR/bootcamp graduation.  I have 18 days until I see my Ross again.  He left March 7.  I feel tears swelling as I type this, but looking forward helps me cope.

Sherrie0530, I left info for you on your My Page.

My son is shipping today. He is all sworn in and waiting at the airport.
It has been a tearful day
My son leaves tomorrow. We are very close. I honestly think the hardest thing will be not hearing from him. We live in a society where we can call or text any time. Thanks for posting. I'm glad to know I'm not the only Mom who is feeling this way.
It has been 8 days sense my son left. Some of his friends that are still in town have volunteered to be substitute kids for me. Bless their hearts they have been wonderful and kind. One young man said it helps him not miss my son so much helping me. Thank you all for being here. It helps to know that I'm not alone.
Thank you so much!

Bless you!  My son leaves the 18th of December and I am super worried about how I will handle it.  He has asked me to promise him that I will not cry.  Hang in there, I'm sure there will be those ups and downs.

This is the hardest day so far. My son left this morning to go to St. Louis, He is swearing into the Navy on Thursday at the Cardinals baseball game. Then he will be shipped off to boot camp.I had to go to work this morning and i cant concentrate on anything all i can do is cry. I am so proud of him and the man he has turned into, but i still wish he was just a baby and i was rocking him to sleep. I cant see this getting any easier.  :(

12 days in and I'm emotionally unsound. I was doing great but for some reason tonight not so great. I want to hear his voice, I miss his daily calls to me.  I know I have to be strong for him and I am but not so much for me. But tomorrow is a new day!

Its day 8 for me and it feels like it has been a year.  All I can think about is what he is doing everyday and every hour.  I am addicted to this site reading and replying because the moms on here are the only ones that can relate.  I have friends that are crying because their children are leaving to college 2 hours away.  I cannot relate and they can't relate to me.  I have a daughter in college for her 3 year and it is nothing compared to this.

The no contact is driving me in sane.  I didn't think it would be quite this bad.  I wake up during the night and can't get back to sleep because I am wondering about him and what hes doing....its crazy.  I can't wait until BC is over....for him and me....lol
