It looks like she graduates Oct 15 not 16...She IS in boot camp and not OCS right?? If you have questions that aren't answered by your PIR group (read some of the discussions in the discussion forum in your PIR group..click on "view all") let me know and hopefully I can answer any unanswered questions you have.
Thank You for pointing me in the right direction. Yes, my daughter graduates from boot camp the 15th.
Lady Hamilton..I've noticed that often when their rct was in JROTC in high school they put that they are in the NROTC program..but really they are DEPers
sorry, i dont know all the abreviations yet. she's in boot camp.
That's okay...Hoot's Mom..You'll learn. It is VERY confusing. Most new N4M's get the NROTC mixed up with Jrotc in high school. NROTC is college for military.

Just hang in there....if you have a question just ask. Your PIR group will be a great source of support and info for you int he coming weeks
hi you will get a box with your daughters clothes there should be a paper in there or one will be mailed to you about her pir about hotels car rentals reastraunts etc the navy lodge is 65 dollars a night i hink its on the basesome people stayed at the ramada and did not like it had different problems some hotels have discounts for pir weekend just ask them.its good you dont have to fly because cheap tickets are hard to find.good luck to you bothdont worry she will be fine
thanks so much!
Actually Jessica, the reason many moms of recruits who are currently at Boot Camp choose NROTC for "Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?" is because if you check the options given, you will find they are as follows:
Thinking about joining
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
In the NROTC Program
Enlisted
Officer
Retired from the Navy

Because of it's location in the list and the fact that NROTC looks a lot like NRTC, many moms believe NROTC means At Boot Camp. You would think that the option of "Currently at Boot Camp" would be an option, but it is not. Maybe sometime that will be fixed, but it hasn't in the nearly 3 years since the site was launched. People who are not familiar with the acronyms do not know that NROTC stands for Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps instead of Navy Recruit Training Command.

Some moms who know this leave the stage at Waiting to leave for Boot Camp or change it to Enlisted when their Recruit is at Boot Camp.

Hoots Mom, I wish you and your soon-to-be Sailor the best on this journey.
Hi Hoots Mom, We stayed at the Ramada and found that it was fine. The ramada is where the meet and greet is held the night before PIR for the families. You need to make your reservations as soon as possible the hotels fill up fast.
Thanks for the info..we really didnt know where to stay but we will definetly loook into this. What town?
Waukegan-Gurnee
I'm glad I have this web site to go to. I have recieved 2 letter and 2 phone calls (the first one was very short....just to let me know she made it) she doeasnt go into detail about pir...she says she has shin splints and refusses to go to the dr. because she doesnt want to chance staying longer. Now she's not sure Navy life will be for her. This broke my heart. pir date 10/15 hope she makes it. I'm asking for prayers to be sent out to her. Thanks for your help!
