Just got back from visiting my daughter in Pensacola. We really were hoping to stay on base at one of the hotels but that didn't work out. I searched the internet for a nice yet affordable hotel room that came with a kitchen and a sitting area. We were able to have my daughter for the weekend as well as three of her friends so that's why we needed the extra room.
After days/hours of searching I found a place and highly recommend it to anyone going to see their kids/spouse in Pensacola. It's called Cottages on the Green. The prices are GREAT. I actually reserved my room on Hotwire but that is only for the room and not the room and living quarters so I would call them first. It's about 15 minutes from base (Back Gate) and is centrally located to stores, restaurants, fish markets, beaches, boat rentals (Lil John's boat rentals). We got a room (two queens) and for $25 more a night we got the living room, dining room, kitchen and another 1/2 bath. Ask for the Military discount. Talk to Kristie. She is wonderful and will try to accommodate any needs you may have. She gave us a cot and an air mattress along with linens for my daughters friends. She let us use a cooler for the boat rental and she even brought us her dvd player from home to watch the PIR dvd. She is awesome.
We had a shrimp/crab boil for all of us at the condo (table seats 8 people) which was awesome. Got the seafood from Perdido Seafood Market ( great prices) but we had to buy the pot, so I left it there for the next person to use. Just ask her for it.
I loved seeing my daughter and she was so grateful that we came to see her. She has been at A School for 2 months and just started classes. School for her is 16 weeks so we thought it would be good for her for us to come for a visit. Turns out it was!!! We will see her in Nov. sometime when she is done with school.
Cherish each and every moment with your sailors!!!!
Hi AZ mom, I love all this information! My son just got to Pensacola a few weeks ago and loves it. He just told us yesterday that he will be there for two months. I'm an AZ mom too! What division is your daughter in?
I will keep this info handy, thanks!
Division from BC? I'm in north Phoenix. Where are you in AZ? Did your son start school yet? How long is his school for him? What's his rate? My daughter's rate is AC. She will graduate Nov. 6th. School is 16 weeks for her. Can't wait for her to come home.
Yes, my son has started his school, but being a boy...all I know is "he will be there one, month, two months, or more" LOL! He is AO. I live in Peoria, so probably near you. Which HS did your daughter attend? My son went to Sunrise Mnt. Is your daughter loving the Navy? My son is very happy with his decision to go it!! That makes me happy. MY son was in div 936 in boot. He played in the drum line. I don't know what I would do without snap chat and face time! I can't wait to have him come home for a visit...I miss him like crazy. If he stays there more than two months, I will probably be heading to Florida for a visit! :-)
