Just got our letter today so not sure how many out there have the same information.  7 days in and he says it sucks !!!  probably so !!  we'll start writing to him,  encourage him to keep going and remember that you go through Basic Training, you don't stay there.   Better things await those who persevere !

God Bless all the recruits

Can they pack the cell phones to where they are going? I guess they can't unless they are moving the next day?
If they are shipping the next day, we can meet them at the airport and give them their phone. That is the only way.
Just talked to my son. Sounds so relaxed but he is nervous because they are being so easy on them. Waiting to get yelled at again. They are so glad to be finished and so excited. 2 pizza parties, playing pool and more. 3 more days
tlots of them will just want to use their phones in the hotel....they cant take them back to RTC w/them....but you could put them in the lock and go for them...if they are being held in RTC...there are several computers where the RDC have been taking them for "heaven week" they cost to use...so my hubbys been useing the phone :) ill bring the laptop for him to play w/at the hotel...instead of the lock and go, ive arannged to leave his stuff w/someone from our church in case he is not grad and go...C did say he things yesterday was there last day to "play" THREE more days....blarg i cant wait
That makes sense. Your husband doesn't know where he is going yet? Does that bum him out? My daughter is so bummed because she doesn't know how much liberty she will have or when she came come home. I told her to just hang in there. I can't wait to see her and give her a hug. I bet you can't wait to see your husband. How exciting! Hard to believe that it is almost here. Thanks for the info on the phone. I just didn't want to have to bring it back here again and she could have it. I guess we will find out more when we get there.
I have a different question, does anyone know if A school destinations might have a program to adopt a Sailor to have over for Thanksgiving? Just wondering because I know so many won't be home for Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas. : (
Especially when family lives too far away.
Maybe have to ask the A school group what they know.......
I certainly don't know about the A schools themselves, but I know my daughter already has plans for Thanksgiving with some of the other nukes. I was thrilled to hear that she has already connected to other nukes.

I went to the nuke mom's group and see that they are already making plans to bring their kids home as the school is closed from Dec 17-Jan 1. If you know where your sailor is headed have you looked for the group for that A school?
Linda - yes, there is a group I just haven't been on to really get plugged in yet. Put it on my to - do list.
I haven't posted to it, just kinda scanned some of the posts.
Linda,

I have a question. Do you know if the sailors are allowed to leave on the 17th by any chance?
I know I could ask my sailor when I saw him but just wondering if you had any additional information on it.
Holy moly! I had to go back in the Nuke Mom postings until October 29/30. It is about page 30 of the group page. It looks like they aren't allowed to leave until after 6pm on the 17th and it also looks like flights out are already booked on the 17th, 18th and maybe 19th? One mom mentioned flying out of Newark, NJ.

My daughter didn't even know about the time off when I talked to her after BS21. The info I had from the N4M Nuke Mom group was news to her.
I had this same question earlier so I went to the Great Lakes Naval Training website and it listed that Adopt-A-Sailor has been closed for thanksgiving.
