Got my first letter today!  Love it.  He sounds good, but really needs to know when he gets a visit home.  Does anyone know when they get to leave for a weekend during A school?  Or do they????

My brother is 286 :)

So is my son.  Where is he attending "A School."

Hello,

My SR was set back 2 weeks and he is now in Ship 12 div 285 so looks like we are all together.  I have also made a Facebook page, so please join if you would like- but continue to come here- sometimes Facebook is easier for folks.  I belong to both and get so much valuable information.  My SR will be going to A school in GL.  Looking forward to meeting all of you.https://www.facebook.com/groups/327142450710806/members/

Kate

My son is also in that div.  Have not had a phone call or any FB activity from him at all.  Little worried.

Imv322 -- both of my boys are doing well. One has a little more extra work to do due to an SR assignment within his Div. they both said they considered quitting after that initial shock but knew it was not an option for them. I remember being in bootcamp many moons ago and I think we all thought we had made a mistake at first but by this point (week 3 coming up!) you realize that this is right for you and you start to look forward to the challenges. I'm am so proud of all our sailors, men and women, who have the courage to leave all they know and everyone they love.

Talked to my son today and asked if he knew two boys from the same family in his div.  He did!  He really likes them.  Thought it was really cool!

Omygoodness!! That is so great! I also got to talk to one of my sons and my other son called his fiancé at the same time (thankfully she was here with us at the time!). They both seemed so much more upbeat, especially after their initial letters. Im looking forward to meeting so many of the moms at PIR!
My son is in division 12 ship 286 also His A school is in Chicago

my son is in the same ship and division. His A school is also in great lakes. have you heard from him? I haven't yet really. Just a quick little note.

Hello to everyone,  I have been getting the updates from everyone and they have been keeping me encouraged, thank you!  I got my letter Thursday and my son was sharing that his shipmates are all working as a team which will make things a lot easier for everyone.  He is with Ship 12, Division 286.  I also had a surprise this week in that I did not get just get one call but two "business" calls for more information for the security questions that all must complete.  I think his has to be done sooner than later because of his job.  The first call was a total shock and it scared the daylights out of me, (especially when I had missed the earlier attempt, and I returned the missed call and found out that it was from the USS Triton), the second call was easier.  We couldn't talk about anything but the information required, but I could tell that he was well and while a demanding period in his life, he is handling it very well.  Hope all get a phone call soon.  I told the Petty Officer when I called back that either something was wrong or something was needed.

I got word tonight that my son is extremely homesick (it probably did not help the phone calls that he had to make this week) ugh, had a huge meltdown tonight as a result. I don't want him to give up after the 3 1/2 months that it took to get him to get in. Am worried sick about it. I really wish that I could get a hold of him to get him back to reality and while hard to go through BC it can get through it.
