Thanks so much, and sorry for the delay. We had high school graduation and now we are just waiting on his ship date for boot camp. They told us to expect it to be within the next 6 weeks.

Anti M - as we have seen so often, news changes on a daily basis with regards to BS, NY. My son just graduated from prototype in GC. As he said, the people in Power School would know better. They were still training in NY, but the scuttlebutt is that they are no longer sending new classes up there and he knows that the newer classes going to Prototype in GC are twice as large as his was. Thus my understanding, which could be wrong just as easily.

My assertion Dawn 1231 is that it is needs of the Navy as to where your sailor will go for their training for Prototype, whether that be in GC (Goose Creek / Charleston, SC) or in Ballston Spa, NY or any other future possibility.
My nephew has been an instructor/staff up in New York, it is up and running and they have students there. He is on terminal leave, and didn't say anything about the prototype closing.

To the best of my knowledge, all Prototype classes are now being serviced out of Goose Creek only. And it was based on volunteer and needs of the Navy as to who went where. So, most likely your son will be staying in the Goose Creek area.
