We got the "letter" today!!!!

We are both so excited to finally know his address and what division he is in!!! We had both encouraged him to tell the truth when asked about previous marching experience and apparently he did since he is in Div 943! We are both thrilled to see him on 9/7!!!

OK, since there were no "I'm a sailor!" calls today, I'm guessing it will be tomorrow instead.........I hope. I really really hope!!!!!

Yep, hoping....  :)

We got the call!!!!!! He is a US Navy Sailor!!!! Yay!!!!!!

AT 1415 on 05SEP2012, I received 'THE CALL'! We have a US Navy Sailor! WOOHOO! All y'all will be getting your calls soon!

See you at PIR!

Remember to ask them their travel plans if they are not stay in Great Lakes for schooling.   No matter what you where told before, they didn't have their final orders than...now they do

We got the call today, I am so proud of our Sailor!  Can't wait to see him on Friday.

We have a Sailor too! We are so proud of all the new Sailors. Congratulations to them all!!!

Forgot to mention, our Sailor told us that the band, choir & drill team performed in a parade off base on Monday. I can't remember where it was but he said they had a blast and they got candy! LOL, the bus driver bought them candy and they didn't even ask her to do it he said. I thought that was so cool they got to go off base for a few hours and they had fun!

IT'S OVER!!!!! HOOYAH!!!!!! What a wonderful performance by all 943's. We got the the hall early and found spots. We were able to watch our son walk into the prep room a couple hours before the event started. The captain, chaplain, and all speakers were great. All sailors were sharp. It was wonderful.

We went out to a mall after and walked around after my son bought a watch at the NEX. Saturday was a brilliant day as well. Early arrival at the airport and a late flight meant that the wonderful USO volunteer told them to have some fun but be back at the airport by 1700. We took a CTA train into Chicago and saw the Shedd aquarium and many people. My son's friend's mom had to return home while we were still in the airport early so I 'adopted' another son. My son's dad, stepmom, step sister, my husband, I, and two sailors all walked through the city. I am afraid of large cities so my son grabbed his friend and looked very seriously down at me and said "Mom, we got this. No one will mess with you." I gulped and got on the train and had a great time. We saw their flight leave. Thanks to this site and all the other sailors and their families. HOOYAH! GO NAVY!

Well everyone, how's it going? My sailor's waiting to "class up" at A-school. He's become friends with other newbies down in the SW. How are the rest of our sailors doing? Updates, please! let's not lose contact as we have been together from the beginning of Boot Camp, through Battle Stations, PIR, and now A-school.

How's it going, everyone?

Granny - our sailor is at Great Lakes and starts school on Monday. He will be there for about 14 weeks learning how to be an Engineman. We are pretty lucky as it is about an hour & a half drive for us. Not that we get to see him alot but if he wants he can come home for a bit. He is excited to learn what he needs to and then to get to the fleet. He still hangs out alot with 943 kids which I think is pretty cool.

My son, Michael (ship 2 division 943) has arrived in Fort Jackson SC for his A school for Religious Program Specialist. He sounds so happy. And we hear from him daily now. He's about 12 hours from us. He had a great time at GL and spinning the rifle again.
