OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 910

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I got a letter from my SR with a list of the guys he hangs out with and their nicknames.  So much fun to see him make friends.  His nickname is "Moscow."  He is heading to MC school in Maryland - anyone else?

And mine is in div 61...also going to MD. Does everyone from Navy who goes to MD do Mass Communications...or are there other subjects?

MD has the Defense Information School - DINFOS fulfills the Department of Defense's need for an internal corps of professional journalists, broadcasters, and public affairs professionals.   I haven't found any other rates listed for MD

April, my son is in Ship 14 DIV 062, and will head to MC A School in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Good to know - I'm sure they don't know each other now being in different divisions, but they will once they arrive in MD! :)

Were either of you surprised by your SRs A school? Did they choose that or was it just given? We home-schooled our son and he always loved anything military, history, outdoors extreme things....but he HATED writing. So I was just amazed to see him put into something that may include so much media....getting more and more educated about it on the Fort Meade MC Blog.

That is all Kyle wanted - he was considering turning down the Navy completely if he didn't get MC or another job (I don't remember now...).  He is very excited!

Wonderful! Glad he got exactly what he wanted. Caleb is excited too. What a roller coaster watching them launch!

My son chose MC from a variety of available ratings when he entered the DEP. My understanding from his recruiter and older son in the Navy is that it is a coveted rating. My son is extremely excited about it.

I have been reading about that as well...that it is one of the more competitive ratings.

Hello everyone... my son Ryan is in Ship 02 Div 910 and he is Weapons Petty Officer.  He is also a Rifle Spinner.  So proud !  He is going to A School for Information Technology (IT) in Pensacola, Florida.  We are from the south suburbs of Chicago - Oak Lawn / Chicago Ridge area specifically.  Anyone close by or anyone's son or daughter mentioned my son?

My son doesn't talk about anyone..LOL  I asked him who his friends were and he said he a few - but didn't tell me who.  Silly child! :)
