They won their 1st flag!! Oh HAPPY DAY!!!

Me too! So excited!

Yahoo, my SR called too. He is doing awesome! He said half of the division is sick. Anna he knows your SR! Does the last name start with P? He said the food was very good, he has passed all tests so far. They got their dress whites, dress blues and the navy pants with tan colored top yesterday. He said his group of 12 is the black line and at graduation I'll be able to tell by the flag. The phone number started with 847 so be sure and answer!!!

Yes mam, it sure does :)

Oh Happy Day!!! My son just called! talked to him for 20 minutes! He sounded sooooo goooood. A little sinus stuff going on with him but he is doing well! Said it was an experience. and their division just won their 1st flag!! I didn't cry at all! He was so excited about everything. Said he has made some great friends and his bunk mate is really a great guy! He is so fortunate. Just the excitement in voice made me excited for him. He thought it was great they we booked our hotel room for PIR. Oh Happy Day!! Told me he was shaving twice a day, i laughed and told him he didn't have that much facial hair he said he does now!! LOL So glad i got to hear his voice. Hallelujah!!! Hope these next few weeks fly by!!!

My SR is a little sick also, cough and throat went to sick bay and he got some sufeded and throat drops! Oh Happy DAY...I feel like I am on cloud 9! WHooooo Hooooooo Just so proud!! Said his division is really a great bunch of people!!!!

My SR called too!!  It was so great to hear his voice and he sound so much better than I expected.  He sounded like he had the sniffles but didnt complain about being sick.  They are getting our letters but only about evey 5 days or so, holding them back to motivate them, but then he gets a stack of them which he said is great.  He talked about their divison getting a flag which is awesome! I didnt cry because I was soooo happy to hear his voice.  He told me he feels really young and I got to wish him a happy 19th birthday which was Monday, and I could tell at the end when he got quite that he might have been tearing up, but then I ended it on a really postiive up beat note so he would not be too homesick tonight. Miss him terribly but so wonderful to get the call.

I got my letter yesterday, my youngest son and I both cried.  My son Derrick has not recieved any of my letters yet.  I felt so bad.  He said that they got candy for Easter in his letter.  He talked about what a great bunch of guys that he is with and how he is starting to make friends.  He talked about a suprise inspection with their shower shoes and him and his bunkmate both passed.

I just signed up for Facebook and i really don't know what I am doing LOL but I looked at the photos on the RTC page and I noticed on the coverpage the one on the fourth row back looks kind of like my son, but I am curious if that is a new picture or has been there for awhile?  Does anyone know?  Also on a couple of pictures it seemed like they did a contest and if you won you got to see pictures of your SR division- does anyone know about that as well?  Derricks Mom Ship 04 Division 151

I dont know about the facebook but I wanted to share with you my sons comment about the letters.  Yesterday in his phone call he said he had received letters from me and his girlfriend and was so happy to get them.  But when she got his letter to day he was saying that he had not gotten any of her letters.  So when he wrote on sunday he had not gotten them but by Wed he had.  So I bet your SR has your letters by now.

When I talked to my son, he said it has been taking about 5 days for them to get our letters. And it takes about 3 days for us to get a letter from them. He just said keep the letters coming because they really help!

The RTC facebook page used to do Trivia Tuesdays, and the winner got their child's division photographed and  posted. Now they do random pictures of different divisions and post them. Then each week they take a poll to see which picture should be posted as the main picture. As far as one of our sons being in the cover page photo (the one where the sailors are all wearing navy blue and they have caps on that say "Navy" instead of "Recruit") it wouldn't be them because that ceremony comes after completion of Battle stations 21 which I believe is their final test at the end of Boot Camp. Does that make sense, and did I answer you questions?

Yes, thank you and thank you both for the encouragement.  My SR has always kept his hair long especially if you compare it to what he has now. LOL..  His little brother shaved his head when his brother left and I am still trying to get used to them with really short hair. I can't wait for the pictures.  I think that the last time that their hair was this short was when they were 12. Derrick will be 20 in June.  I will let you guys know when I get my phone call.  Have a great day today!

My son shaved his head just before he left for Boot Camp. It was very strange to see for the first time and almost made me cry. I think the reality of him leaving hit me at that point. I'm sure his hair is much shorter now, but at least it probably wasn't quite as much a shock when they finished the job. That is cool that your son's brother shaved his head too!
