My son is in Ship 04/Div 809.

Anyone else?

Ladies,

I will be sending a SPECOP "veteran" mom this way!

Hi Ladies. I already recognize names. My son's PIR was 10/18/10 with a SEAL contract. Hopefully I can help with information and support for your loved ones in Spec Ops.

Yikes!  recognizing names is that easy?  should we change somethings?  I have several questions.  The one I am wondering most about is how much time I will get with him after PIR.  Through different readings it looks like I will have more time with him Saturday then Friday is this true?

I am sorry I just mean I recognize names from the PreBuds group. Your names are fine. lol

After PIR you will have a short time to spend with your sailor because he will have to move over to PreBuds. He will call you later in the day to pick him up, but then he will have to be back by 8 or 9. He will call you Saturday morning to pick him up and you will have him all day, but must return that night, Same goes for Sunday. Hope this helps

Recieved my first letter today, good and bad..wisdom teeth pulled, miserable, says seals training is tougher, then he thought , and feels a burden to do his best so he can pass it. has the flu,but hasnt gotten any med, saids to many people sick and cant get in to get some. says he hardly gets more then 3 hours of sleep and feels exhausted, and somedays he works harder then his body can take, and will pass out and wake up with someone screaming in his face, then get up and keep going, said hes gaining weight eating so much protein and so much food, sometimes to the point of puking, but he is not a quitter, I sure hope as time passes it becomes easier. says he has been punished for everything, like not folding clothes fast enough or perfect, bed making, calling someone by the wrong tittle.( has done a lot of push ups, jumping jacks, and other excerises for punishments for messing up.) On the positive note he said he is getting buffer and that is awesome. at least he looks at something positive about his experiences. Has anyone else gotten a letter? Is anyone elses son having a hard time there? feeling a little down and worn out?

omama tell him to hang in there. He will have time to heal and get some rest when he starts PreBuds. Its hard for them when they are not feeling 100%, honestly I can't imagine having the flu and doing what they do.

omama, Hi.  I would never call you stupid.  I am new to the Navy too and quite a novice about most things.  PreBuds, I learned from my son before he left is the training they must pass before they can qualify to go on to Coronado.  It is very hard, much harder then BC.  Will you be attending graduation?

Sorry omana I didnt realize he was going to Pensacola. PreBuds is only for SEAL candidates. My youngest went to aviation school in Pensacola, so much nicer than BC. A more laid back atmosphere with great food.

I am going to graduation, we have made reservations at the Navy Inn. I am very excited, and super proud of my son for all that he is doing. and honestly cant wait to see him!

omama, That does make sense.  I didn't understand what the AT were.  But if they are SEAL support it is understandable they would be together.  Thanks for helping me to understand that.  Yes, we will be attending graduation too.  I think I will be making our reservations today.  I know your excitement :).  I am one proud Navy Mom and CAN'T wait to see my son and give him the biggest hug ever ! :)

I got a letter from my son today!!!  I felt so good!!!!!!    He sounded encouraged!!  He did have his wisdom teeth extracted and I think the pain made him quote a few scriptures to help him get through it.  Other than that he sounded good.  He even talked about laughing alot.  He loves to laugh.  That made me feel happy.  Travel arrangements made and just waiting to go.
