Aren't these just the longest days in your life?  I'm now a mailbox junkie, hangin' out by the box all the time just waiting for that letter!

Does anyone have a son or daughter Ship 6, Div 945?  Being a performance division, I'd love to hear what you know about the workload and their (few) extra privileges.

        Thank you all!

Week 7:
During this week you will have a written test as well as classroom training on the history of the
uniform, grooming standards, dependent care requirements, and terrorism. You will also get to
practice your fire-fighting skills in an actual "ship board" fire-fighting exercise. The week ends
with Battle Stations. Battle Stations is the culminating event of Navy Boot Camp. It’s designed
to allow you to use the skills you’ve been taught thus far in Boot Camp (i.e. swimming survival,
teamwork, fire-fighting, damage control, etc). Also, PT-2 is this week. Make sure you’re ready!
Week 8:
This final week consists mostly of out-processing, practice for the final Pass-in-Review
(graduation), and classroom training on core values, professionalism, the UCMJ, rank of other
services, and career advancement.
Finally…GRADUATION! After graduation you will have off-base liberty to spend time with
your family.
I have found this isnt exact but it gives you some kind of idea of what to expect.
I havent been able to find any pictures of the parade. :(
I haven't had any luck either. I found last years parade on YouTube. I am still hopeful it will turn up. I will continue to look and let you know if I see it.
Here is an announcement I put to together for my SR to post in the newspaper. I added information about their Honor Guard and Drill.

(post picture here)

Seaman (name and rank), (son/daughter) of (parents name) of (city and state)recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. (His/Her) chosen rate is a (rate), (he/she)l is proceeded in the Navy by his older (brother/sister) and is also third generation Navy.
During (name) eight weeks at boot camp (he/she) was in a Honor Guard Division. (His/her) duties entailed of performing at Ceremonies and Parades. (name) was also expected on top of (his/her)( in/her) tense practice and performance duties to complete a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations." This exercise gives recruits the key skills and confidence they need to graduate and take to the Fleet. "Battle Stations" has been designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Its distinctly 'Navy' flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor.
(name) also performed with (his/her) division at (his/her) PIR on (date) at the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois.

(name) is a (year) graduate of (high school), (city and state), (he/she) enlisted through the (city) Navy Recruit Station.
Whaletalkers, the press release is awesome! Thanks for taking the work out of writing the announcement. It will be a proud day when I submit this to our local papers, to be sure!
BTW, any word on paychecks? I ask only becuase we got a "statement" delivered to the house for the pay period of 8-5 to 8-19 that showed no activity on the checking or savings. We haven't rec'd anything since. Just wondering if we should be getting regular statements or if this was a one-time deal? Will our SR be getting paper copies of his statements?
My SR has his deposited in his account last week whenI checked his account. They get paid on the 1st and 15th of each month unless those days fall on a weekend or holiday and then its the friday before.
They have a account that is theirs with the military. They can download their statements, Tax papers, etc there.
I found an announcement on the internet a couple years ago and added stuff to it fit my SR. And now with my NEW SR being in 900 division I added more.... On the second paragraph, second line instead of 'tense' it should be 'intense'

Mine must have been hidden by the tubas in the back since he's percussion. I couldn't make him out but is was wonderful to watch just the same. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again for sending!
