I got my first letter (the form letter) last Tuesday but did not find this site until now.  I am making plans to make flight reservations for graduation but would like to find out what some other family members are doing for hotel, car, etc. I would love to start communicating with some other people who have kids in my son's division and then meet you at graduation.  Looking forward to a phone call and another letter soon!

Please join us over on Facebook too at http://www.facebook.com/groups/232895426770226/ too.

I was going to stay at the Ramada but I have since changed my mind and decided to stay at the Springhill Suites.  It has a hot breakfast and is within walking distance to restaurants and Walmart.  Plus it is $79 at night which is much cheaper than what we were going to pay at the Ramada.  We are also going to Sarge's Meet and Greet which I heard is better.

If you use Sarge for transportation from the airport, he gives free transportation to HIS meet and greet and TO PIR but you have to pay to return after PIR.  I was going to have to pay $125 for 3 queen beds at the ramada and Springhill Suites is $79 for 2 queens and a pull out couch.

I was reading where the Ramada didn't get too favorable room rating...older hotel.  But it as a restaurant, the meet and greet and people said it was okay.   I also have a reservation at the Navy Lodge which is 5 min from the base, no taxes and about $100 cheaper that the Ramada.  The thing there is no shuttle to base and no restaurant.  Some people were saying stay close to the base to eliminate travel time to and from since our time there is so limited and precious.    So I'm really not sure where to end up...probably with the Navy Lodge.  I guess there are pros and cons to either one!  Hope this helps.

Hi Donna,

Looks like our sons are in the same division.....

Our flights are booked...hotel reserved and by gosh my bags are packed! I am so looking forward to 12/2/11!!!!!

This is my 1st time out here so I am sure I have allot of catching up to do on everything for graduation....any information you have to share would be awesome.........

Hi All, I'm new here so not sure if that has been suggested.   I was reading about how one of the other divisions were wearing a navy scarf so they can all spot each other at PIR and possibly the meet and greet.  Would anyone from Ship 07 / Div 010 be interested in doing something similar?  Open to any suggestions.  Here's a link to one of the suggested scarves.  http://www.navyonline.com/ePOS?store=460&item_number=605402&...

I already bought the scarf you have in the link above.  A lot of moms, girlfriends and wives are buying that same scarf regardless of the division their SR is in.  If you go to the facebook page you can see more discussion on it.  By the way, it is navy and GOLD... the gold is pretty bright.  You might want to get the scarf in hand first if you want to buy a top to match it.  I had bought more of a mustard color top and it just doesn't look right :(  I don't know how well it will match but I got a sweatshirt from armedforcesgear.com that I hope will match it better.  I was able to use a coupon code (FACEBOOK20) for a 20% discount.  They also have a navy dad sweatshirt for 19.99 and navy mom/dad t-shirts for $12.00

Thanks!   I'll probably go for the scarf too then.  Do you know anything about the dress for PIR...casual, dressy etc.

I have heard people taking about wearing jeans or slacks and a sweater.  I am wearing jeans mostly because of warmth.  You can ask on facebook and get more opinions.

Do any of you have an SR that has an MM Nuke rating? (I don't know if I am saying that right??)

Hi All Ship 07/Div 010.

I just got a letter from my son wanted to share some news with everyone.  His last letter dated 11/12 said they might get to call home on 11/19 around 4:00 PROVIDED that the division gets a 4.7 or higher and no one fails the exam for wearing dress uniforms.  If they don't pass, he'll be calling home on Thanksgiving.   I'm praying for a call!  He said on 11/8 he was getting  Navy dress ble photo and getting his ID card.  He's all excited about the uniform.  He also fired an M9 and M500 shotgun.  As of 11/11, 11 more days until Battlestations.  After Battlestations it's an easy 9 days until graduation !  Also, he got a promotion from Seaman Recruit to Seaman Apprentice.  I'm so proud of him.

BattleStation today or tomorrow for our group.  Blue candle is burning and prayers are going up for all the recruits. It is my understanding that when they complete BattleStation they will get to call home and announce that they are a Sailor. Have your phones ready.

Battle Station was yesterday we should get a call Shipo seven division 11 and 12
