Our letter came in yesterday! Glad to hear from our SR, but was a little disappointed to learn he wasn't on the Dec 16th PIR schedule. We received "the box" last week, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would of been. I think following the day by day boot camp activities has helped me deal with him leaving. I read it everyday 3-4 times, I guess you can say its therapeutic.

I agree - wearing something to signify our Recruit's ship/division (09/023) is a great idea!

Hi Julie my son graduated in March from BC and we where green scarfs cus of St Patty's Day so red or white scarfs since Dec is also very cold as March was .....
Hello everyone my nephew is in this group also....09-023.....
Welcome! My son is in this div. I hope their spirits are up, mine are fading. I miss him, but am so proud of him.

Dito!

Ok ladies- saw the info on the meet & greet. wondering if maybe we should try and go to the same one so that we can get together and put names to faces. Our children are now family so it really would just be a family reunion where the family really is unknown. haha. Last year for our older son's meet & greet one of the mom's from our site made nametags with our username so that we could recognize each other. It was really nice. I like the idea of a red or green or even gold scarf ( Christmas/New Year's theme). Any suggestions as a color or something else to identify us?

I do something every now and again( I did it a lot when my oldest was in BC last year- esp. at night) I just talk to my child in quiet- like a prayer- I encourage and remind them to push forward. Keep going giving them my strength to add to theirs. It made me feel better. I figured if they missed me or was thinking of me 1/2 as much as i do them, then they could hear me too. kind of my own version of looking at the moon from wherever you are and know that I see the same moon kind of thing.

I guess moms everywhere do this anyway- but just thought I would remind you that your child CAN hear you with their heart.   Keep writing them, encouraging them, talking to them, and talking on here. You really will be surprised that it goes faster than you think.

I agree with you...keeping positive thoughts and prayers going out to our recruits helps them and helps us as well. I read on the facebook site that a couple of moms have received their first letter! Hope mine comes soon and all of yours as well!! If you haven't checked it out it is U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page of Facebook. I usually don't sign in to my facebook but just look at the posts without being identified. Hope this helps you all, prayers to all of our recruits to do their personal best and help their shipmates.

Hi,

My son is on Ship 09 Div 23. I spoke to him last week. He needed some info. to complete his paperwork. It was great to hear his voice. He was in good spirits and said it was getting better for him. I was glad to hear that because his note on the form letter wasn't very positive. Hoping to get a letter from him soon. Can't wait until Dec. 29th!

I am eager to get the next letter we have only rec'd the note on the form letter.  He was not really enjoying things and questioning his decision

Good morning y'all!  I "borrowed" this from a friend on FB. It may not be the right branch, but the sentiment is the same. Since my son is going to be a HM this makes me really get a little teary eyed. Have a wonderful day.

Good morning!   I can't wait to hear from our son again!   So far we have only received the form letter with his short note written on the back.  I know they don't have a lot of time to write but anything would be awesome!  We miss him terribly but are SOOOO very proud of him!    I hope to be able to meet some of you at PIR on December 29th!

WE GOT A LETTER!! A real 2 page letter! He sounded good. Following the rules...flying under the radar. It was the sweetest feeling seeing his handwriting. He said keep sending the letters and please...send pictures of family. That made me tear up a bit. I have been printing pics on regular paper and inserting them in my letters. So ladies...I'm praying for you all to be next. It is so wonderful!! I just wish my darn mailman did not arrive at 5:00pm everyday.
