Our letter came in yesterday! Glad to hear from our SR, but was a little disappointed to learn he wasn't on the Dec 16th PIR schedule. We received "the box" last week, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would of been. I think following the day by day boot camp activities has helped me deal with him leaving. I read it everyday 3-4 times, I guess you can say its therapeutic.

I'm with you about the mailman My mail doesn't get here until 4 thats if he decides to show up everyday. sometimes I don't get mail for a few days then all of a sudden I have a lot, I know where he hides during the day I will find him for sure. Glad to hear your son is doing good and you got more then a few sentences.

I received an awesome two page letter today. <heavy sigh> He said some really nice things to me. It made me cry. But I was so happy to hear from him. He said that he felt kinda bad for the guys from Hawaii because they weren't used to the Chicago weather especially during marching time! He also said that P90X had nothing on boot camp! (his older brothers have done P90X--and he tried it a couple times.) It is difficult but he is determined to get through it. I'm very proud of him---and am praying, praying, praying!

Wellllllll Goooooodddddd MORRRRRRRRNNNNNIIINNNGGGGGG MOMMMMMMMSSSSS!!!!  yep coffee is dripping nicely in veins right now! he he!  Got our first "real" letter. He sounded a little sad( homesick- missing his GF & I hope maybe his mama too haha), but otherwise ok. Short and to the point kind of letter, but he never has been big on writing. That's ok it was good to hear from him just the same. I hope those that did not yet receive their first letter have their hands on one today. Just keep writing, sending upbeat encouraging letters and info. That really is all we CAN DO at this point.

Booked our rooms last night at the Ramada in Wakgegan. Not the cheapest I found, but for what we need and location, shuttles and the meet & greet it will work out. I really don't want to try and manuver the roads too much while we are there- weather is just so unpredictable. I do pray that it will be bright , sunny , and clear with good road conditions. ( oh yeah I do sometimes live in a dream world) hahahaha! It could happen! Right? hahaha

Have a blessed day everyone!

Hello everyone! I have been browsing this site--looking at different groups...and found one called Grad & Go. So, are our guys/gals considered Grad & Go? I feel kinda dumb about all of this stuff, I must admit!! Any insight would be VERY MUCH appreciated! Peace and Faith to you all!

Just wanted to say good morning and hope and pray you all have a wonderful "hump" day!

Good morning everyone!!  I found our our son gave us the wrong address now I wonder if he rec'd all of my letters and cards.  Booked our stay at Navy Lodge but now I wonder if that is ok place.  It was cheap very close no shuttle but you cna pay for one.

Good afternoon all!  we rec'd out thrid letter much better than the other two.  I still cried but not as hard!  It is just great to hear from him.

Well folks...we got 2 letters today and Grandma got 1...WOW! He sounded very upbeat and said his division (023) is coming together and learning and working hard to be the BEST!  Our sons, husbands, and boyfriends are doing an incredible job there. Keep up the letters! Our son said it is the absolute BEST time of the day. Lights out...and they get their mail. Their Chief allows them to fold clothes, shine their boots, or study after Taps.

We received 2 letters yesterday as well!   Our son sounds good and asks that we write as much as we can - I know they love the letters!   Keep 'em coming :)

I received a letter yesterday from my son and he said that they will be getting 5 days of leave after their PIR. He said that since they will miss Thanksgiving, Christmas and graduate on New Year's weekend....they will get the leave. But they have to be at their school by 7am on the fifth day. Has anyone else heard this?

Is your son going to A school at Great Lakes?   I thought I saw something saying that they had to report to A School (at Great Lakes) on 1/8/12.  I don't recall the time though -sorry.   I hope that helps!
