Just got my son's form letter.  He shipped on 7/5 and is in Ship 09 Div 279.  If yours is too, please reply so we can get to know each other and share information.

I created a discussion on the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Facebook page for Ship 09/Div 279.  Hopefully we will attract some more people with SR's in this division!!
There is also a 8/26 PIR discussion on the facebook page that was just created today.   (not by me)

How do you find those discussions?  All I see is regular wall posts.

I am having an awful day today.  I have cried a bunch of times and am just getting tired of my hopes being crushed.  Our recruiter told me last week (on the phone) that my son would have Friday (after PIR) off, all day Saturday and then possibly some time Sunday morning off, before having to go to the airport.  Well, from everything I've read on N4M and the RTC facebook page, that is not true.  He is Grad and Go, and everyone is saying that he'll probably only have a few hours with us on Friday after PIR and then will be flying out in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Stacey- I am so sorry that you are having a bad day.  I was hoping to have most of the weekend with my son at first, but also after reading on N4M and the RTC facebook page, I am going to expect that he is going to have to leave to fly out early Saturday morning, but I figure I will take any time that I can get with him.  Where is your son going to A school?  Mine is going to San Antonio, so at least that is in Texas and I'm hoping to be able to go visit him some weekends before he graduates A school.  If you are on the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command facebook page, look on the left side where it says Wall, Info, Photos, Discussions, etc. and click on Discussions, you will have to search for what you are looking for, but there is one titled PIR 8/26/11 and one Ship 09 Div 279.  You might have to click see all topics and go to several pages before you can find them.  I haven't figured out a way to search for them yet.  I know it doesn't help now, but from what I've read on the RTC page, after training school and before their first permanent duty station they will have liberty.  Hang in there--we will get through this.
My son is going to San Antonio also!  But that is a very long way from home (Michigan).  I think he is happy about that in a way, because he will get to experience a snow-free winter for the first time.  I'm going to send you a private message.
My son was not happy that his A school would be in San Antonio.  He wanted to go somewhere out of Texas.  But the good thing is that he will be close enough to visit.  I plan on visiting him several times while he is at A school.  If it's o.k. with your son, maybe I can visit him too or he could do things with us when we go.
Jana, I bet you anything my son would love that!  He likes to be active, always on the go doing something  :)
I got it!  I got my call tonight!!  I was able to talk to my son for 45 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  God is so good  :)  I'll write more about our conversation when I stop crying and can think straight.
Wasn't it great to hear their voices?  I was so glad that God worked it out where I could be home to get his phone call instead of at work.  He does know your son.  I'm surprised that I was able to remember everything that I wanted to ask him.  He is sick with a cold.  He said everyone is sick.
Yes, alex said there are 18 people (out of div 279 and 280) SIQ.  He is sick too, has been for two weeks.  He said he is doing well (and sounded great), likes it there, would be disappointed greatly if he were to get sent home for any reason.  He said he has passed both tests they've had, one swimming and one classroom test.  I can't believe we got to talk for 45 minutes!!!  I am so HAPPY :)

It took 27 days, but Monday was the first day I didn't cry!  :)  I think now that we are at the 1/2 way point and I can sort of see the end in sight, it is starting to get a little easier.

How are you gals doing?  Did anyone get mail today?  I was out of town today and didn't make it to the post office, so I should have a letter tomorrow.

Hey Stacey--that's great...I am marking days off the calendar, and now there are more days marked off than are left, so that's good.  Have been kind of nervous since I got the phone call last week about his previous health issue, but so far haven't heard a word.  I figure no news is good news at this point.  First letter I got came on Friday, the letter I got last week came on Thursday, so hopefully will have a letter tomorrow or Friday.  He may have had his wisdom teeth out this week. The last couple of days I have been packing up the garage apt. next door that he and my other son were staying in before he left.  I moved my other son into the living room and am giving the garage apt. up to save some money and let the landlord rent it out.  It was kind of sad packing all his stuff up in boxes and taking them to the storage room, but I didn't know what else to do with it.  Hopefully we will all get letters tomorrow.
