I received my son's form letter yesterday letting me know he's on Ship 09 Division 024, graduation date of December 29. Would love to hear from others!

Mine will probably say that to he stays in the GL . keeping my fingers crossed

Angeltoe Maybe you could urge her to wait until after he graduates, this bad news will make him lose focus on his goal of graduating, I know my sons first real girlfriend broke up with him a yr. ago and he really had a hard time with it, and to not be home for support. We are driving from NJ 13 hrs. my husband flys alot for his job and is always getting bumped for just rainy weather, so I don't want to take a chance, I think I have more control if we drive. We made reservations at the Residence Inn I would do it soon, we were told they have had alot of reservations made yesterday. Keep your chin up it will work out. Here is you ever need to vent....Michelle

Good Sunday Morning, I'm enjoying my cup of coffee in the blue Navy mug my son left for me and thinking of my son and what's he's doing at this moment...sure that the other moms here are doing the same.

Last night I made reservations at the Ramada Inn only to cancel them this morning; after reading comments about the nasty smells, etc. I wasn't going to stay there. Booked at the Comfort Inn and they were a bit cheaper at $69. a night.

Michelle, our SRs are on the John Fitzgerald Kennedy and I know this because I found a page online (darn if I remember how I got there) but it has a diagram of the RTC Great Lakes Ships and shows Ship 9 as such. you might check on www.NavyDep.com

Hope everyone enjoyed the extra hour sleep and have a wonder filled Sunday!

Thanks for the ships name. We booked at the Residence Inn, had read the reviews to and didn't want to take a chance, We got a suite since my other son will be us and if my new sailor is able to spend time with us wanted the extra room.  We all will have to find a way to meet once we are there. It would be nice to put a face with these posts.  Have a ggod day!
does anyone know if we can pre-pay for the graduation pictures, My son doesn't have a credit card on him and I really don't want to send him a check. I will try calling the photo lab today, just thought maybe someone could give me a fast ans.
My son is also on Ship 09 Div 024, with a graduation date of Dec 29.  I was disappointed the with graduation date as I'm really going to miss not seeing him over the holidays.  We live in Missouri so we'll be driving up to Great Lakes.  Hope we all have good weather for traveling.  Does anyone have any idea of how much time we'll be able to spend with our son?  Do they leave for "A" school right away?  God bless all of you and your loved one in the Navy!
i wonder if our sons know each other. They get holiday leave until Jan8, my son stays in the GL it is up to him if he wants to drive back to NJ with us, if he does we will fly him back a few days before the 8th. sent a letter out to him today with the info. he will have to let us know. Sometimes it's harder to come home and then have to go back, keeping my fingers crossed. The letter for leave is where the groups are it will say Holiday leave for 12/29 graduates. I was also told it is on the official RTC website...Michelle
It's been quiet with you ladies, I guess you are posting on other sites, just wanted to check in as we are in week 2 (seems longer hope it doesn't for our kids) everyday looking for a letter or clutching my cell so I don't miss a call. Have a good day all.
My son is Ship 09 and Div 023. The thing about taking leave is...they will only have 5 days of leave accumulated at the end of boot camp. If they choose to "go into the hole" ...my understanding is that they possibly would  not get leave time after A school. My husband was in the Navy and he doesn't want our son to "go in the hole" with leave time. So I hope our son will take his 5 days and then reports to Great Lakes for his A school. There will be others there so even though the school is on stand down, it won't be empty.
so the holiday leave for the PIR 12/29 really doesn't mean that they have to be back on the 8th. this is so confusing I hope he understands it all. Why can't it be black or white and not all of these gray area's ugh.

That is great we will have to meet up there would love to meet you and your family, We are driving to it's about 13 hours for us, Planning on leaving the day before early in the morning. praying for good weather. Seems many are receiving letters hoping for one this week. Have you gotten any letters yet? Now it looks like they may only get 5 days leave with the option to take in the hole time which is basically time they will owe back during A school. so I'm thinking he won't want to come home, in that case we are taking Christmas to him can't have him waiting until April to open his gifts.

Got my letter today, breaks my heart that he is feeling down, seems his unit gets yelled at alot, just the mental breakdown is alot harder then he thought, just have to keep praying for him and keep encouraging him.
