Hello all fellow shipmothers, girlfriends, best friends, aunties, grammas, sisters, etc...

Just wondering who is in the same ship and division as my son.  I live in Wisconsin and will be staying at the Navy Lodge for the PIR ceremony.

My son will be going to Groton after PIR.  I haven't gotten a phone call from him yet but am excited to hear from him.

My boyfriend is ship 09 div. 076 as well! He will also be going to Groton after PIR :)

sweet! My son is doing sonar tech (I believe)

My bf is going to be an ET and I beliievee that stands for Electronics Technician. lol I could be wrong though!

I cannot wait to get a letter from him! Hopefully very soon!

i think that they all are basically the same thing when they start off and then as they get going they get the feel for what they really are good at and then they make a decision. I think there are three to pick from, sts (sonar tech sub), stg (sonar tech ground) and the et (electronic tech)...If i remember what the recruiter office told me anyway.

Hi there, I just got the form letter from my son, he's in ship 09, div 076 and has a PIR date of March 2.  I believe he'll be going to Groton, CT, after but I'm not sure.  Do all your recruits know this for sure already? Also, I was told not to make definite flight arrangements right away, are you all waiting (assuming you're going)?

I know for sure that my son will be going to Groton, he knew that when he picked his job. I don't need to make flight arrangements as I am driving but I would make them if I were you to avoid a possible hike (I have heard some info regarding that) but make sure you can change if need be (southwest has a no change fee I believe). Unless something happens, he will definetly has pir on the 2nd. Its when he leaves for Groton we aren't sure about. By reading what our veteran moms have posted, it sounds like they will fly out Sat early early early. But thats just what I think.

My son is also in ship 9.  I was very excited to find out that the letter I had been sending him from day one had the correct address!!!  I was a little nervous.  Got my form letter on friday with a hand written one on the back from him.  I couldn't have been happier if Ed McMahon was standing on my front steps with a big check!!  My sister works at the Groton base for the C/O, she is a civilian but has been working for the Navy for almost 15 years.

Kimm...when I got home Thursday, I saw the letter on the counter but I had to go to the bathroom sooooo bad - I actually stood there for a second debating on reading the letter over peeing.  But then I said to myself, seriously, the letter will still be here when you get done....lol!  I then read the letter in comfort! lmao!

I got my letter Friday also, and I was just as happy!  His note told us not to kill our cats, so there was a little humor in it, which helped me a lot.  I was actually out of town at a scrapbook retreat and after I finished crying about the letter, started doing some pages with my son's pictures on it.  My friends asked me if that was a wise move; I think they thought they were going to be a crying mess all weekend.  I believe my son will go to Groton also.

have any of you gotten phone calls yet?

no call yet... hoping to get a letter this week!

no phone call for me either. Hoping for a letter too but if he had time to only write a little, I think he would have probably written his girlfriend.
