HI TrumbullCTmom: My son is 084. Keep your phone handy today, we might be getting a call :) Our scarves are gold, with navy numbers and anchor. I bought my fabric at Joann's. ($5.99 yd) then I cut it 65 inches long and 8 inches wide. I cut my fringe 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long. I used a ruler and a pencil to draw my lines so I could cut straight. Some of the pencil marks did not come out in the wash though. :( I took mine to a place that does monogramming because I was just too busy to…

Hi, Trumbull! the Moms of each division pick a scarf color, and then wear them at the meet & greet and at PIR to help ID each other and show solidarity. You still have time to make a fleece scarf, or just buy a simple scarf in the color at Walmart or Target.

To make a fleece scarf, simply cut a strip (loooooooong rectangle) across the width of the fleece fabric (usually about 60" wide). When I made mine, I used a rotary cutter, but scissors will work fine and fleece is VERY easy and forgiving. Choose your width: 8, 10, or 12 inches. Then "square off" the ends and cut fringe. The "fingers" of the fringe are cuts, about 1/2 inch apart and approximately 1.5-2.5 inches deep. This is a fast, simple project. You can get your fleece at JoAnns or any fabric store. I'm going to find you a picture.
Can someone please explain to…tag:navyformoms.ning.com,2012-03-06:1971797:Comment:69041662012-03-06T13:16:09.219ZTrumbullCTMomhttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/servants

Awesome!! Thanks so much. I am not crafty lol I may have to get my mom to help or a lady that I know that sews. I actually got that same Navy pattern for my daughter to make my son a blanket. It's just the kind that you tie around the edges, she said it was easy to do. I talked to a lady in 083 and she is doing gold, even though another lady told me it was for sure "yellow". I think some wires may be crossed there, so now I'm just not sure what to do. I am going to Hobby Lobby and see what…

What you see here are two different sets of scarves I made. The pattern is the NCAA Navy Fleece, available from many fabric stores (I got mine at JoAnns). The plain is the ROYAL Blue (the color my son's division families chose). Fleece is EASY to work with. you simply cut "strips" the full width of your fabric (usually about 60" wide). Then trim the ends of the long strips so they are square. Finally cut the fringe, with "fingers" about 1.5-2" long. I used a rotary cutter, but you can use…

I also put one of our Ribbons in the photo for you. (and used the baby's scarf to cover up the last name, ha ha). I used an embroidery machine to create my ribbons, but that's just not necessary. I've seen great ribbons with stick on numbers and letters, and some hand lettered with "paint" pens. I found the anchor at JoAnns in the iron on appliqué section of the store.
tag:navyformoms.ning.com,2012-02-24:1971797:Comment:68801232012-02-24T22:41:44.634ZzStratMomhttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/zStratMom
