Shelia: Thank you, your right I am very proud of him. In fact I am proud of all our boys! Hopefully we will able to make it to the M&G so I can meet you wonderful ladies. Only a couple of days now. :)
Thanks,Mamaof5,for letting us know - 2nd place in the Captain's Cup - kudos to 350!! How is your son feeling? I bet having the stress of BS over with, he's feeling better all the time! I do hope you are at the Meet & Greet!
Do you know what we are supposed to wear to PIR? My husband is wondering if he should wear a jacket and tie, or at least a sport coat. Forthe meet and greet, Iwill be wearing whatever I wore as we drive - all the way from NJ!
What about you, beckmcs? How areyou?
Hi there SheilaD and Mamaof5, I am doing great, so relieved that our sons have met their requirements and are on the downside of bootcamp! I can't wait to fly out on Thursday but first have a crazy week at work and then the happy 17th birthday celebration of our second son along with school play for our 15 year old daughter. I am glad for all of the busyness as it makes me not count the seconds this week!
Mamaof5, how is your son? Hope he is feeling healthy and can fully enjoy PIR and your visit!
SheilaD, my hubby is planning on wearing casual slacks and a button down dress shirt but no tie. He may wear a sports coat for warmth rather than a outerwear coat.
We are hoping to make the meet and greet but may be cutting it close with our flight arrival time. I would really like the opportunity to meet you both in person and your sons too! What are your plans for liberty? Our son wants to go get a really good steak and then enjoy wearing his uniform out and about. I am still looking into options but am told the Navy Pier in Chicago is worth a visit.
What do your sons A school departures look like? Ours will head to O'Hare at before the crack of dawn (like 2 AM!!!) on Saturday and we will meet him there to have a little more time before he flies out to California.
Take care and safe travels to you and yours!
On Saturday he said he would get his orders today. I know there are at least 5 of them headed to Monterey from the 10/21 PIR and agree that it makes sense they will be on the same flight. Did your son say when/if they would be able to call this week? I did not think to ask my son that question.
Ok, sounds good. Enjoy that I am a sailor call, it is pretty amazing even though you know to expect it!
Thanks for the info, beckmcs! I'll make sure my SR's younger brother has something other than jeans with him. My husband will probably wear his sport coat, then. We will be arriving in Chicago just befor the Meet n greet, too. We pick up our SR's brother at the airport (he's flying in from Boston) and then we'll head over to the ramada, hopefully.
My son stays at GL for A school ( no change of scenery for him, but I hope more freedom!), so we do have longer to spend with him. He didn't have lots of ideas for liberty, just a nice, relaxed meal. He did mention the Navy Pier, too. Maybe we can meet up there!
