Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 037 & 038

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

We rec'd one too.. Happy! Happy!!

Glad to see everyone is finally getting letters! It does make things feel so much better! Only thing I didn't like was he said he only got 1 letter from me 1 from is grandparents and 7 from his wife! I have sent 6, his grandparents 4, his wife 12, and 4 others from other family members! And those were sent out over a week ago! Wonder if they hold back some just in case they don't receive any?! Hope not because I need to know some answers to some questions I asked him! Especially about his money for pictures!

About the pictures. Do they offer them only to the SR's ?  I def want them but i bet my son won't. He hates having his picture taken:)  I must write in the next letter to be sure and purchase them. I think they are privy to using their naval bank accounts to purchase them plus stuff in the PX.

We got the first real letter today too! He didnt date it so I'm unsure of when it was written. He only refferenced to one of my letters and asked for more. I've written over 20 and his family the same. So im thinking the Navy is holding back mail. He said his job is "ship staff" but he is replacing the RPOC. He seems very excited. Im not sure what everything in his letter meant haha I'm still learning. He also said all the guys are good friends and "they've got each others backs" He says their not really struggling now that their working more as a team. He says they dont sleep much but that its not as hard as he expected. He said he's having trouble with inspections and isnt perfect but its enough to pass by haha I think he's probably doing fine and just being hard on himself. I dont know though. Im hoping to get another letter tomorrow and a phone call before I leave for vacation!

Good Morning!  Happy to report that we received three letters from our SR yesterday -Ship 11 Div 038!!  Passed his tests and loving every minute of training.  Great to hear from him and that he is happy. Little homesick but said he does not have much time to be homesick which is good.  Funny thing is before he left we took out our landline and use only our cell phones which he had programmed in his cell phone so he cannot remember our numbers.  Bad thing is they are getting to make calls this weekend so we will not get a call until I get him a letter with our cell numbers.  Hopefully he will call his grandparents landline Sunday!  We have booked our rooms at the Ramada Inn-Waukegan and unfortunately have to make the 13 hour drive.  Not flying because there are some in our group that cannot buy the airline ticket.  Renting a mini van instead so the 6 of us can travel together.

So excited t hear that everyone is getting letters. We got our 2 1/2 page written letter. What a guy. He sounds good. He is doing well  and he said he is staying under the Radar and not being a Gomer Pyle :) I talked to him twice this week, getting security clearance issues squared away. He is looking forward to coming home for Christmas as we are as well. We are staying at the Ramada as well. I look forward to our meet and greet.

I know we have thousands of questions to ask our SR's ...I want to pass on a tip from an experienced Mom...send a separate page with just questions and leave enough space for them to answer, it saves them valuable time and helps them communicate better back to you (some kids find that hard) ...I keep a running list of questions and when there's enough I'll send it off!!! I have already gotten one back and it was so great to get all my questions answered....
Thank you for that tip. It will hopefully get some of my questions answered.
Does any family here vacation in Bridgeton Maine...my SR has also???

Still holding on to my phone like it is Gold, waiting for my SR to call! Ughhhhh! Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving and remember we are Thankful to have a brave Sailor to protect us and our country! We are lucky!!!!

I'm doing the same thing with my phone. Everyone else has heard from their recruits seems like some divisions get more privileges than others. The only 1 letter that we have received was written over the course of time and most at night so he wouldn't get caught. Just doesn't sound right if you ask me.

I was thinking the samething. Did you get a call one week of him being there? My call was 19 seconds and my SR told me he would call around week 3 but that didnt happen. I figured since he was a leader of his Divs he would get to call, guess I thought wrong :-(
