Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisons 167 and 168.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

HI to all,

I too got lucky and had a 2 page letter in the mailbox. The first was written on the second day.She wrote it wasn't as bad as she had thought it would be, and that she felt she was in the right place. She said the RDC's are intimidating but also sometimes funny. She also wrote that when she got woken up for night watch the previous night watch had to tell her she was in BC, she was confused at first thinking she was still home. The 2 Ladies that shipped out with her are in her compartment. one in her division.

Second page was written last Sunday, short and written in a hurry. She said she was a little sick but otherwise o.k. She asked for envelopes and stamps and said she was hoping to get another phone call soon. She misses everyone, including the critters. She thanked me for the pictures I had sent her already and asked for her recruiters address.Overall, I sense that she's o.k.

Personal letters arrived today, one written on 3/10, the other written on 3/17.  Said he loved boot camp, the food was great, and that he was making many new friends from around the country.  Talked about the p-days, he hated them.  Said his division is doing well, that they pulled together early, and seem to be hitting their stride.  Said their 1-1 day was 3/11, had their swim test on that friday, he passed.  The 3/17 letter mentioned their first academic test was this past monday, first inspection was today.  Wants more mail, more sports info, and wishes he could see the animals, but said he was not really homesick, just eager to get to the next day.  Very proud of him, seems like the Navy is the perfect fit for him.

yay for everyone that received letters. I'm glad you all shared info on how they are all doing; my son is not a conversationalist he obviously takes after his father. getting close to week 3 were almost veterans now. yay div 167/168

Hey1proudmama! My daughter is in nuke too. This whole thing is overwhelming when I think of where they are now and how much further they will go. Its nice to have friends along the way! Hope to meet you and some of the others on 5/3!

Yay 1proudmama, and a virtual high five to all for nearing another weekend (maybe calls? and letter sending time for the SRs). time seems to be going by faster than I anticipated. being on this site helps a lot.

I'm so excited about going to PIR already.

Cheers!

I have a son in Div 168...from Texas!  Got a phone call last Saturday morning and hoping for one tomorrow.  Got my first letter yesterday and it was dated 3/14.  All seems to be going well...misses family and our dogs.  Says he's met some really nice people and looks forward to getting letters and pictures.  I try to write every other day.  He's excited to see us and I can't wait until PIR.  I miss my kiddo!

Taking all phones upstairs tonight, hoping for another call.

Anyone get phone calls on Saturday?

HI Tan's Mom,

We just got a 25 min call!!This is Sunday, she said they did not get to call yesterday cause there had to be a health inspection. Some 20 SRs of 167'168 apparently have contracted Scabies  and had to be quarantined. That's nasty but at least its not a life threatening condition.

She sounded very strong and said that it looks like they'll be able to call every week on Saturdays most likely, and probably around 8 AM their time .No guarantee for that but of course.

Cheers! missG

So happy you got a call....and then I got a call!!! Love all the great news and pray for more :-)

Had a nice call from our SR about an hour ago, he has never been much of a phone talker, so we only got about 20 minutes out of him.  Said he is fine, lots of people sick with different things.  He is trying new foods, enjoying himself as much as possible,  He sounded very confident and determined.  (That is a shock)  Making new friends, especially his bunkmate, did not mention his name, or where he was from.  Also said he should be able to call once a week, as long as they did not get in trouble.  Big test this coming week, and inspections.  All in all, he sounded great to me.  Hope you all hear from your SRs', and hope thay are doing well!

Got to talk to my boy finally. I was out at restaurant so had to go out in the snow to hear him! Sounded sick yes there seems to be a scabbies outbreak. His bunkmate has it, but so far he doesn't. Sorry if any of your children have it. He is still real homesick but this was his 1st time talking to me so it was like 1st phone call home. I was asking do you know so and so of course I'm mentioning 1st names. He's like I only know last names. Williams was one of them said a couple others but hard to tell what he was saying. Myers I think. Glad he is making some friends. Had a couple funny stories to tell said drill sargeants or whatever you call them in the Navy weren't too bad. Said a few  guys got into argument last night and got severe  ITE. But other then that they are pulling together pretty good now. He choked up in the beginning of phone call and at end but other then sounding sick he sounded good. Glad to see others received phone calls too. Hppy mama
