Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 189 and 190

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I got that same call yesterday. She told me that my cards and letters mean the world to her. I just can't wait to see her. I pray they all do well.

I am not doing well today at all.  I have been to 2 other PIRs in Great Lakes and had the most wonderful weekends with my sailors, my brother and my nephew, and now it has come to my attention that they have changed things and we no longer get the weekend with them. I'm feeling so devastated and feeling cheated. My sailor had already planned how he wanted to spend the weekend, like we always do... some things feel like tradition.... and now we can't do any of it. I know I should be glad I'm getting any opportunity to see my son, but wow... the disappointment is weighing me down. I know I should not worry over things I can't change, but I can't seem to shake this feeling today... the tears are coming pretty easy today... and on top of that, my daughter was going to wait and come up later in the weekend to see her brother because his PIR is at the same time as her Senior Honor Day at school.  Now she has to miss it if she wants to see her brother.... she is missing something she has worked SOOO hard for and is just as important to her.  I'm just sick today, and I can't change anything about this whole situation.... so how do I let it go and not let it distract me from my day and tear me up inside.   Really feeling the weight of the world today!

Has anyone gotten calls from their son.  My son is on ship 12 div 189 and I have not gotten a call from him in 3 weeks. I have gotten letters but that is it

My grandson is in the same division, told us they might not be able to call until the final week.

Haven't gotten a call in 3 weeks and no letters in two.  My daughter in law got a letter but I think he sent it same time as ours.  It is lonely around here.  14 more days till I get to see my boy as a Sailor Man.

Sorry you didn't get one of the letters that were sent out early last week. Your son may have been one of the few chosen for special assignments. My grandson, for instance, is "on staff" working with his RDC and other Petty Officers and has no free time at all. When he finally returns to ship (barracks) at days end he immediately hits the sack. As you may already know, our recruits are learning all about fires this week, how to control them and put them out. They're also learning about the various types of survival equipment including EEBDs and SCBA. Next week is a busy week. There's a test scheduled every day. One is the Confidence Chamber, otherwise known as the gas chamber. All this and everything else they've learned in boot camp will be put to the test early the following week in Battle Stations 21 -- A 12 hour final exam. If they pass, tired and sweaty and dazed, they participate in the hat changing ceremony, removing their "RECRUIT" ball caps and replacing it with one that says "NAVY."

Received another letter from my grandson in DIV 189 yesterday. Letters were mailed out Sunday. He said it would be the last one until PIR. Their Battle Station 21 is Friday night--goes until early morning. When we wake up Saturday our sons (and grandsons) of DIV 189 and daughters of DIV 190 will officially be Sailors.

For those of you who have sailors attending A School at Great Lakes, you may have to wait up to five hours  after the PIR to spend time with them. They will begin A School processing immediately after the ceremony. When finished they are permitted day leave.

Great I'm so excited for them can't wait to see my daughter. DIV190

Battle Stations 21 is over. Our recruits are now Sailors.

Just got the call she's a sailor.
