Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 159 and 160

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

That is awesome Navymom!!! Congrats to your son. When did those two things take place? Is everyone on the same schedule? You must feel very proud.

Ive heard the same thing from my fiance. I heard they are getting beat pretty hard. Are you Roxanne Torres? i know that might be so random but my fiance told me if I had problems finding this site to find you on FB. lol

My prayers are definitely for the division to start working together. I have faith it will all work out. Just breaks my heart for them having to do so much IT work. My son said his back hurts so much and he doesn't want to get anything for the pain for fear that he will be held back. I have to know he is in good hands.

Thanks Roxy!
We are looking at Gateway Inn. I think it is actually on post. It does not have a shuttle, but they said parking is no problem at PIR. Anyone know about the Gateway Inn?
I found this at another blog on N4M. Do you know what TSC is and how to email them like she did?

*****I know a lot of people will say not to stay there because A School students are not allowed in the Gateway Inn. I emailed TSC directly, since TSC is the command in charge of the Great Lakes A School and got a reply that since it's a special occasion, they except that weekend from the rule of not allowing A School students into the Gateway. I printed the email conversation and kept it with me in case anyone asked about him, but no one did. *******
Thanks Chrissybear. I will call and find out. I appreciate very much that you found this info for me.

Yes you can stay at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites PIR weekend, and your SR can apply for a chit to visit the hotel after he moves over to the TSC side. If you or anyone in your party staying there has a military ID they can make the reservation. If nobody does you will have to go through a background check to stay there. In order to "walk around" while you are on base, someone must have a military ID, otherwise you are limited on where you can go and what you can do while on base.

Another thing to remember is, your sailor has been on base for at least eight weeks, getting off base is a treat. When the weekend is over they are once again "confined" to base until they phase up at school, that will be at least another two weeks for them.

Thanks for the info!  We have three mil ID not counting our SR.  However, the rate link for A school has been updated to reflect that rate AE or AT go straight to Pensacola which would allow him to visit us at Gateway Inn.  Yet, when we checked with his recruiter yesterday, we were told that the pre-electronic training is still at GL.  Granted, it was the recruiter asst. we spoke with, and he did sound very young, so perhaps he is misinformed.

Nevertheless, here is what I understand.  If he stays for A school at GL and moves over to TSC, he applies for a chit when he gets to TSC.  If he ships immediately to Pensacola for A school, he is free to go in and out of the Gateway Inn with us for that one PIR day as he leaves the next morning anyway.

Praying we get a phone call soon! It seems like the closer we get to graduation the harder its getting for me. I cant wait to see my SR, but for now I'd settle for hearing his voice.

WE ARE HALFWAY THERE! Woo hoo! Anyone with SR (last name beginning with)* J or SR (last name beginning with)* T in div 159 ?

*edited to remove posted last names

Chrissybear,

Glad you got a letter, yet sorry he sounded so sad. That is how my son sounded last call I got and I am hoping the next letter sounds better. He was afraid to ask for pain relief for severe back pain for fear of being asmoed as well. Like you, I was hoping things would sound better by now. We just bought our tickets and I am praying the date doesn't change. Hang in there, by now things are probably better.
