Just received the form letter info from my son's girlfriend that he is on Ship 14 DIV 197 and wondered if anyone else's son or daughter is part of this division. Feelings pretty hurt that he sent the form letter to his girlfriend and not to us but I guess that's a sign that he's growing up. Still hurts though.

I am pretty sure his PIR date is 5/24. Here is the group

PIR: 5/24/2013

I'm sorry you are feeling hurt.  I hope that you and his girlfriend can share this journey together as a team because it appears that she is pretty special to him.

Join the group, PIR 05/24/2013 TG 28, to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 197 and 198 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

My daughter is on the same Ship 14 Div 197. Don't take it personal...you will always be his momma. Did you write him a letter, yet? My letter was at least 5 pages long to my daughter. I really miss her.

Be sure to join the groups mentioned above.

It is okay to have mixed feelings; it is a new place to be! We all find our way with girlfriends, fiancés, and new wives.

Hello, my name is Tammy and our son is Ship 14 Div 197 also... Sorry about the girlfriend thing but always remember that she will never love him as much as you do. We keep hoping our son will leave his one day lol. Anyway how are you doing? I just keep counting saturdays because it makes the time shorter for me....  I miss him terribly but I know that it will be a wonderful life for him. Anyway I just wanted to say hello and maybe our sons are friends, that would be great! He said that he has made some great ones......

Hi Tammy! I'm doing much better. I really love my sons girlfriend and she has been great about keeping me updated. I just miss him so much and miss not hearing his voice. How are you holding up? It would be great if our sons know each other and have become friends. Maybe we will get lucky and they will get to call home today!!

Im glad that you are better... Its 9:06 our time and no phone call so maybe next week. I know how you feel about hearing their voice. I miss my son so very much! Looking at his empty room is hard but his new life will be worth it.Im glad you get along with your sons girlfriend.. I get along with my sons also, I guess its just the mom in me that feels that no one will ever be good enough. I know that is not true, I think its the missing him so much that has made me crazy.... Anyway enough of the crazy mom story lol..... Did your son have his wisdom teeth taken out? That story was funny when he told me about how they did it...  I cannot wait to hear about his experience... After he graduates he will go to school in Fl, will your son also?

Davids_Mom, since you mentioned that your SR will be going to "A" School in Florida, sometime between now and the end of BC, you may want to join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola.  What will his rating (job/specialty) be? There are groups for many of the ratings as well.

Believe me I know exactly how you feel. My SR is my only child and I thought I would never think any girl would be good enough for him but she's very sweet and I know they love one another dearly. It's just hard when you are no longer the most important female in their life. My so is going in for navy corpsman so had will be attending A school in Texas. Fortunately my son already had his wisdom teeth removed a couple of years ago. I didn't realize they would do that in the navy. How miserable that must be. I was really hoping he would call tonight since I haven't heard his voice since he left on March 26th. I wonder if they ever get to call on Sundays.

Calls can come on any day between 8 am and 8 pm CST, but NOT on Friday or Sunday between 7 am and 1 pm CST. (See Phone Cards and Phone Calls within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I invite you to join that group while you are there.). Sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio.
