Will the loved ones from SHIP 7 DIV 264 with graduation date of 06/22/18 really not hear the "I am a sailor" call until as late as 06/20/18? I am planning to fly out that afternoon from CA. Does anyone have any better information?

Thank you!!!

Yes, and actually it could be as late as Thursday afternoon/evening before PIR. Either day is possible since your recruit is in one of the last two rifle divisions in the TG. We got our call as we were driving up to GL on the Thursday before my son's PIR in 2008 and it has been happening to others lately as well. There was a time when the call would come no later than the Wednesday before PIR, but calls have been coming on Thursday for some TG's. There were "I'm a Sailor!" calls on 06/07/2018 for the 06/08/2018 PIR date.

If you do not get a call from your recruit on or before the Friday before PIR saying that he will not have PIR, then that would mean that he is on track to have PIR as scheduled. Very few will fail BST although it does happen every now and then. Don't stress about it if your recruit has not let you know of a concern at this point. Plan to be at PIR on the 22nd and to be hugging your brand new US Navy Sailor when Liberty is called.

See the info in Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training (FIT) and Battle Stations-21 (BST).

Thank you for the clear and concise information. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this.

Julie
