Thats my son Dan with me in my profile pic. I got my first real letters today!!! He was so angry about the first day because he had to wait 10 hours for the rest of his group to arrive! He hated the first week but loves it now. He said the food is fantastic but wishes he had more than 10 minutes to eat it. He talked about the shots they got, especially the "peanut butter" shot in the ass that left everyone limping. He didnt have to have his wisdom teeth out, so that's good. He said their PT is done inside but it's stuffy and hot anyway. Everything else was positive, although the whole division has a countdown to PIR. I am so releaved to know he is doing well and is happy!!!!

You probably got your form letter too, I am still patiently waiting

We just received my son's PIR today. He will graduate on Sept 7, 2012.  He is Ship 9 Div 287.

Yaay Ryt2me. Mine is 288!

we just booked our airline tickets tonight.  Wanted to get them before prices kept going up. Have you heard anything from your daughter yet?  A phone call...a letter?  I miss hearing his voice. I worrying about him 24/7 and hope he is doing ok?

I'm just starting to look at flights, etc. The only things I've received are the box and form letter. No notes or anything...Our "kids" are okay. They are in good hands. I am relieved that my SR is in a controlled environment and that I don't have to always text her "where are you, who are you with, what's your plan, when will you be home, and who's driving?" That is such a load off! Haha! Although I am constantly thinking about her all day...I am just soo proud of her!

I would totally agree!  Atleast we know where our kids are.  I am proud of my son too.  I just can't believe how sad I am that he isn't here.....I think it's the loneliness of not being able to talk to him.  We are a very close family and it has been a HUGE reality check!  I miss hearing his voice and knowing how his day was...what he did, etc.  i am still eagerly awaiting a letter or a phone call. Keep me posted on your daughter and good luck finding a great price on tickets to PIR.  It can't get here soon enough.. Natalie

That's my stepson's ship and div!  The form letter arrived yesterday!

have you gotten a letter or phone call from your step son yet?

No letter yet.  My husband was just commenting on that today.  He would like to get a letter from his son!  We continue to write him and we cannot wait to see him on 9/7!

Hey all! My Hubby SR is on Ship 9 and Div 288, so 9/7 I'll be in Chicago hopefully with the rest of you! I have to admit, those of you only 2 1/2 hours or so from Great Lakes, you are lucky! I'm planning a drive from Texas with a friend of mine. i'm so glad for getting his box and letter with his address and PIR date in it, now for a letter FROM him D:

IF i'm allowed to ask(I'll edit if possible if you all tell me no) any other Texan moms/wifes/gfs?

Same ship and Div here. I love when I find more people in the same Div. I'm in Milwaukee so I'm about 50 miles away and thank goodness because I don't know what I would do for a ticket and car. I'm still waiting for my form letter. I don't get it. Do you mind if I request you on here, I'm trying to friend all on ship 9 Div 288. Our loved ones are together and from what I hear that's a bond they have forever. :)
