here is a link to a facebook group that you may want to join. There are people on it now from all the active PIR groups as well as several people who have already had PIR who help answer questions. Just be sure to keep coming to this N4M's page and share any letters and info you have received and to ask questions that other may benefit from as well. Some people do not have facebook and you want to meet them and get to know them as well :-) https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/  Thanks everyone and welcome to your PIR group page. There is also a Navy for Moms group on facebook and a Navy Mom group on facebook but I am not sure if they are closed groups or not.

If you want a facebook group that is for your individual PIR or Divisions please start that group yourself, make it a closed group and let people ask to join. Don't go to one that others have created because you have no way of knowing who they are or if they really have someone at bootcamp or in the Navy. You always want to be safe when online and no matter what site you are on please don't discuss ship movement or give specific dates.

Anyone on ship 9?

My son is on ship 9. How was your first week?

My son is in ship 9...

Hi, Mom of B! My son is Ship 9 Div 288. A different division, but they will be training together and graduate together. I hope your first week went well. It's hard, but it does seem to be getting a little easier each day. Have you received your letter yet?

I added Div 288 to the title.  So, we can use this discussion.  No letter yet, but I called the recruiter to get his address.  I hope it didn't change since the recruiter got the info.  How are you doing?

I booked our flights after the recruiter gave me the division number because the ones with PIR of 8/31 have smaller division numbers.  So, I think we're safe to assume 9/7 is our PIR.  But, I'm like you, I want to know the date on the letter - just to be 100% sure.  It appears that ones who arrived on 7/10 were PIR 8/31 and the ones after that were PIR 9/7.  I sent one letter and put one sheet of stamps in it.  I gave him a New Testament with our phone numbers, email addresses and the calling card number in the back.  But, I forgot to give him stamps!  I think I will send another sheet of stamps after the address is confirmed in the form letter.

N4M has been a great help to me also.  However, against N4M advice, we are staying in the city of Chicago instead of near BC.  My husband is into the arts - he's a folk artist and potter.  So, he wants to visit museums and such in Chicago.  I have our trip all planned and everything is arranged.

He's supposed to go to Mississippi after BC - flying out on Sunday after PIR.  How about Cody?

Hi Barb!  I received my SRs form letter and yes, ship 09/ div 288 PIR is 7Sept. My daughter will be going to Pensacola, as well :)

You are the first Mom I've "met" with a recruit that's going to A-school in Penscola, Em'sMom. :)  What job field is your daughter going into?

Sorry, just saw this, haha! She is going in as AV. This means she will be an aviation electrician or aviation technician. Shes hoping for electrican :)

Hi Mom of B and Barb. Thank you for starting this site. My son is also on Sip 9 Div 287. I got his box last week and the form letter yesterday. The PIR dat is September 7. I cant wait. My daughter had her PIR three years ago and it was amazing.

Hi Kristine!  My stepson and your son are the same Ship / Div.  I'm sure if they don't know each other yet, they will by the time PIR gets here!  We're still waiting on the letter, but the recruiter gave me his address.  Since you've been through PIR, what time should we get there?  I've seen all kinds of times mentioned.  I think they open the gates at 6 AM, but the PIR ceremony doesn't start until 8:30 AM.  Should we try to get there early - like at 6:30 AM?  For those two hours, are we waiting standing up or will they let us inside the facility to sit down?
