My son told me that he became pretty close to the guys he was at ROM with. Don’t fret, Mom. They find ways to have fun even in all the discipline and rigor. They encourage each other and my son tells me how much he likes the RDCs. From what I can tell, he’s having the time of his life. It may not be the same for everyone, but my son is thriving whether I am, or not.

Hi Gina-Lee … my son flew out on Wednesday 9/23 from So. CA . I have all the feels & tears too. The "no news is good news" mantra I repeat to myself daily and I guess now that he has joined the military it will be an ongoing mantra I have to tell myself. Prayers for all us Mom's (& Dad's) as we probably have it the hardest...the RC have a lot to do I am and learn so will be busy and occupied as where we parents have a huge Hole in our daily lives. Hugs!

I hope you are following along however. If you are having trouble getting there let me know. My Son has been in for over 7 years. I still remember how lost and heartbroken I felt. I will not lie and say it gets easier but you get stronger and it does get better. I know my Blog was posted above but please feel free to reach out or ask any questions you have. That is why I and many other veteran moms have stuck around for so long. We will help you get your sea legs and bearings and provide a safe harbor in the storm of emotions you are going through right now.
I am including the expected timeline on here so you can fill in the dates for where your kids are. It looks like they are just a day apart so they likely will have PIR the same week assuming NO additional ROM and there is also a slim chance they may be in the same DIV although that is Slim.

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 8 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining for our moms who’s kids have gotten sick)

Hi Gina

Gina - My SR is my only son. We are very close. It really HURT A LOT for the first couple weeks. I had to put away all his stuff that had accumulated around the house. Every time I saw it, I cried because it reminded me he was gone. His blanket, Xbox, Sandles, laundry, chargers, Camping gear, etc etc. but then I made a shrine too. And put his cologne on my pillow. Anyway, time makes it easier. He’s been gone almost 6 weeks. I only cry about once a week now. You’ll get used to…

Unfortunately, as disappointing as it is, you will not likely be able to see your sailor until they have arrived at their A school and then find out from their command there, what the visitation protocol is currently.

Currently there is no live PIR as you realize, but they are also not transporting the sailors via the commercial airlines as they were in the past. I also think they are holding phones until the sailors are actually in transit to keep travel information from being released - that is my personal opinion - .
