My husband and I are thinking of travelling to Pensacola to visit our son (CTR training) for Thanksgiving.  Was wondering if there are nice places to stay and good restaurants in the area to celebrate Thanksgiving?  Or would we be better off meeting him in Miobile or New Orleans?

I would recommend renting a condo or house in the P'cola area. Nice place to relax and you can cook if you want. My sailor is also a CTR. He has been there since March 5th. He finished A school and is now there in C school. We have visited many times and have stayed at two different condos. One is Baywatch on Pensacola Beach and the other was Grand Caribbean East in Perdido Key (stayed twice there). We booked through http://www.southernresorts.com/ (no deposits or extra fees) and found them on vrbo.com. I emailed an agent named Kimberly and asked for the best deal on a 2 bedroom condo. We also found several houses that were reasonable. There is also a place called soundside holiday beach resort that was very inexpensive but a friend said was nice (was booked when we went). The guy that owned a unit called High Seas Inn at Baywatch was nice and he was going to rent to us for extra low but someone beat us to it. We just went last weekend and didn't go over the bridge back to the mainland the whole 3 day weekend. We enjoy eating at Flounders and Crabs We Got Em. Don't know about Thanksgiving but you could always call and ask.

Thanks for the advice.  We will definitely look into your recommendations.  Our son has several weeks to go before finishing A school...but of course we don't know what the plans will be after he completes school.

Wish you and your family the very bes.
