So, we got the “I’m a sailor call” this past week, and watched the online PIR (even though it was hopeless to find my son with all those darn masks, even after poring over all the photos for his name.) He had said during that brief call that he thought he was shipping off to SC on Friday night.
Here it is Sunday and no word from him. His phone is still offline. We still haven’t gotten his photos, either.
I’m getting frustrated. At least my oldest son got liberty. They won’t even give these kids their phones back after PIR in place of the regular liberty? No contact with parents to let them know they are on their way to A-school? Nothing at all?
I realize I need to suck it up because this is the Navy, but I would have thought they would have done SOMETHING to reward the kids in place of liberty, or at least allow them to call home and let family know their travel schedule. It’s like my son dropped off the face of the map after his sailor call.
Maybe he forgot his charger. If he's waiting in Great Lakes for a flight to SC, he's berthed on RTC side, and would not yet have his phone. Have you joined the Nuke moms group yet? They may have more up to date information on transfer from RTC to GC. Last I heard, they were busing them, not flying, but that may be old news.
His photos will take longer to arrive than you like, that has never been quick.
