My son got 3 pulled out. And yes, he said he had 2 days "off" after that 2 more days of limited activity.

Bugs,

Your daughter's recruiter was incorrect. They are deployable with their teeth, however, they do pull out a great percentage of them.

My daughter recruiter suggested we remove them. He said they are not deployable with the teeth. They give them 2 days convalescent which is like medical leave. I had our dentist remove mobths before she left.

My daughter went through the same thing. She was fine but did have to go back for pain meds because she was still painful on like the third day, she was giving two sick days before returning back to BC duties.

I have argued this battle for years now. If you have the time, take your recruit to your local dentist and have the teeth pulled in advance.

Why make Boot Camp any tougher than it is.

Do not believe those who say "it is no big deal". True....it MIGHT not be a big deal.....but then again, it might.

Just make sure you get permission from the recruiter before doing so.

I had my daughters wisdom teeth removed before leaving for boot camp. It was nice that she had time to heal at home and to have one less thing to worry about in boot camp. We also set up her checking acct. with the Navy so she doesn't have to worry about that as well. She will write her acct. number and routing number in her Navy Bible that she will be taking with her. They have blank pages in it so she will have plenty of room for this as well as addresses and phone numbers.

My son has been gone almost four weeks. He sent me a letter that said he had his wisdom teeth out on Aug. 25. He said he was glad because he got two days bed rest. He healed quickly and they gave him vicodin. I wouldn't worry about doing it before hand. They take good care of them. They also give them a day of light duty, so 3 days to get better. Yours will be fine. :o)

I am glad all those recruits thought it was no big deal to get their wisdom teeth pulled at BC. I know the Navy has good personnel in the medical field. My sailor broke his ankle and has had multiple surgeries. My kids had their pulled in high school during Xmas vacation by our regular dentist. Moms, you know your child. You also know if your pocketbook can take the hit or if there are other places to spend it. I stand by my opinion. Yea, I can be one stubborn mama. End of discussion.
