Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My daughter called me on Sunday I don't know if you seen on the other blog site. She had been sick and said it was very stressful. They also cut her hair and had she had to dye it. Turned out red!Said the highlights were not natural enough looking. Did say she's met a lot of nice friends though. Friends will help you get through anything! Have you gotten a letter from your daughter yet?

Comment by sarahsmom on September 23, 2015 at 11:17pm: Happynavymom, my daughter wrote a letter about halfway through bc about hoe miserable she was and wanted to come home. She was sure she had made a mistake with her life. She called us on Friday and the letter didn't arrive until Saturday. She said she was glad she was able to call first as I'd probably be on a plane and busting through security to get her. She said she was just tired and worn out but no longer felt that way (the letter had been written Sunday) After that each week was better and the sheer joy and happiness she was feeling came through loud and clear on her I'm a sailor call.

I agree with everyone just keep writing and encouraging her and let her know how proud you are of her. Hopefully you will get a call soon just hearing there voice makes you feel better. Sure she's going to have some rough days but they will pass and everything will be OK. Hang in There Huggssssss

Sometimes when our girls are going through a stressful time they just need to vent about it all. Us moms are the safe harbor they can go to to spill all the frustrations, angers, resentments, whatever. Keep in mind, there is no one else there they can really share with. But we get all worried because they are feeling bad. By the time you hear from her again she may have worked everything out and is doing just fine. Just keep encouraging her in daily letters and let her know just how doggone proud of her you are and how strong she is to do what she is doing. It's not for everyone!!! And reassure her that she will probably never see her shipmates from bootcamp again once she gets in the fleet. I only encountered one female that I went to bootcamp with and it was very brief!!!

It does pay off, she has to stay positive and look forward. I wrote a letter to my daughter 5 days a week and it helped her to get thru. Hopefully you will see her on 10/9.
