Hi All,
Clock is moving...tic toc, tic toc... My 19 year old daughter leaves on July 17, 2013 for bootcamp in Great Lakes. Then off to Pensacola for A-school, still hoping she won't have to wait long to class up (Dont know why she wasnt told about that before enlisting, but thats another subject)
When she enlisted/swore in, she was told her job would be ABH, to my surprise my daughter signed up for 8 years...OMG 8 years!!!!
I am very proud of my daughter and support her in every way...but now that the time is near, I'm starting to lose it (not in front of her though, LOL)
Are there any moms out there with daughters that are in the same field? What exactly do they do? How does their schedule work, being on land/sea? How did/do you cope? I am so worried, and it doesn't help to know that I will have NO say in anything.
Can I make her back out now?!? LOL
I would appreciate and love to hear from others on this subject, hopefully your stories can put my mind at ease!

My daughter also left on 7/16/13 and will be ABH. She is 25 and felt she was ready to take on a new challenge in the Navy, but an ABH??? i cried when i read her job duties only because she is such a girly girl and i felt she would not feel a sense of belonging. But she never ceases to amaze me. She called me (her first call) and i could hear a sense of determination and strength in her voice.. I am certain this will challenge her but have total faith in her. I am glad to know our daughters will be in the same A school together. She has already let me know she has made some wonderful friends in BC. Keep in touch and know that you are not alone.
My Son left for GL July 18 and is also ABH going to Pensacola after also- I have been trying to find more info about ABH other than the job script we were given- trying to find other ABH Mom's that have already been through this & could give us more of an idea of what our kids will be doing- I feel for you & am seeking the same info! If I find anything I will try to find you again- my son is ship 003/div 354- PIR 9/20 hang in there :)
