Advice for new spouses

Hello, everyone my name is Amanda. Thank you for joining this group! I have recently went through the whole process of becoming a PROUD NAVY WIFE.  I am starting this group to help all the new spouses on your journey.  Ask me anything!!!!

This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process.  My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we.  It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join.  I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way.  This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general.  My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now.  We have a 3 year old son.  Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on.  I am here to help!!!!  I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

Hello all!

My fiance is currently starting up A-school in Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida. We would like to know if anyone has done a civil wedding (courthouse wedding) with their sailor in A-school here. We are currently awaiting word from his Chief as to the approval of his change in marital status while in A-school, but would like to know more about an Escambia wedding (thinking this is the district courthouse we would have to go to) ahead of time.

Planner, they are just terms you will learn as you go n
A chit is not an acronym, it's basically like a permission slip. A form they have to fill out to request special permissions such as leave time.
PIR is "Pass In Review"- that's boot camp graduation.

Hi everyone! I wanted to joing because I am both a Navy Vetran and a Navy Wife. I've been doing this since 2007 and I would be more than happy to help with any advice I can. I've been through boot camp, school, and underways myself, so I dont mind if you guys want to know what it's like on the other end. As a spouse we've survived living Seperate Coasts, Deployments, and everything inbetween!

I just got married last Friday. I have a lot of questions that I hope that someone can help me with. My husband has about a month left of A-school then we are on our way to Norfolk. Right now our children and I are living in my apartment that as soon a I tell them I got married we will have about 30 days to move. I'm trying to figure out when and where to look for housing in Norfolk.

Chey, not at all! We live in La Mirage and absolutely love it. There is a lot of Navy that live here, it is right off the 8 and the 15 (although not close enough that you get any noise from it.. Less than 5 minutes though) and has some really great amenities. Plus maintenance is great... They are there the day or the day after you put in a service request!

Good morning ladies!  My husband just got orders to San Diego.  It was his top pick, and we are REALLY excited.
