I think my son is wishing he hadn't gotten out. He's been home since the end of June and still doesn't have a job, has decided to wait on school and is hating the heat and bugs in Oklahoma! If it wasn't for his daughter, I think he would have already left!
I'm still staying active with Molly's Adopt a Sailor and We Stitch Love (pillowcases for the adoptions). There are kids who have little to no support from home and I know what a difference the pillowcases and care packages make to them. Sending a little 'home' to them helps their morale and that's what MAS is all about!

Hello all.  I have been on N4M since last July but consider myself a lurker.  I love the shares and comments.  I do have a question.  My son will be on the USS Lincoln when the USS Eisenhower returns.  I am looking for an extended stay hotel from the time they return until the end of August.  Can someone offer some suggestions?  Thanks.

Thanks Megan for answering my question. :)

Yes the ship is in drydock, but as a new incoming sailor without any quals, be prepared for him to get sent out to another ship for a deployment to get qualified and whatnot since he has to get that done within a certain amount of time of being on the ship. As far as where they live, they have a few different places that single sailors live, most of them are barracks and they do have some apts, but I would imagine if he is just coming in he will probably get a barracks.

Hi,
I'm new here. My son was just told he will be assinged to the USS Lincoln soon. If the ship is in dry dock what will the sailors life be like and where do they live?
