Contact with my son is very little as well, next to nonexistent. It is disappointing because they do not seem to realize what mothers go through when they are so far away and there is little or no contact with them. It's hard when they are half way around the world. He does work really long hours. I want to find out about an ombudsman. I will check into that. That might be a good way for me to connect.
ILoveMySailor, yes I've always had this pb. My son is not a good communicator. He's been in Bahrain since last June and I've only had 2 or 3 calls and 2 skypes and a few emails and FB messages! He does seem to be ultra busy and works long hours. I recently told him how I felt when I didn't hear from him after my total knee in Feb...and he sent me flowers and chocolates for my Birthday/Mother's Day...a 1st. So maybe some of them just don't get it! I received an email 2 wks ago saying instead of getting to leave the desert in Aug , he can't come back until the end of Oct because the officer that's supposed to replace him isn't qualified yet and has to take some more classes. I was bummed! Wish they could just send someone else to replace him! Does he have an ombudsman? Mine does but I had to do my own research to find her, talked to her once and that was it! The one he had on his 1st ship was great; she sent out regular emails and pictures. I hope you hear from your sailor soon!
Chriscwick....Ready to do the Happy Dance!!! Will be home in about a week. Seems like forever and day. It has gone by so fast since all his plans were approved, but now it is creeping. How is yours adjusting to San Diego. Oh, Point Magu is the next assignment.
Thanks CindyW! It nice to have him under the same roof, even if it is only for 30 days. My son is a MA, so I'll ask him about your son. I'm hesitant about mentioning my son's last name, because it is too unique. What is your son's job?
My son has been in Bahrain since Jan., 2013. Interesting comments from him. He arrived home yesterday for his 30 day leave. So happy to have him back for visit :)
