Just got word from our son today that he volunteered and was accepted to go to Bahrain. I did a little reading online about the area, but it hasn't been updated since 2012. I am a little unsettled as I thought he would be remaining in South Carolina for two years as his first assignment. I haven't spoken to him personally and have just received information from my husband, so I don't know too many details yet. I am SO GLAD I stumbled back on this group. I joined when he first went to boot camp and then forgot all about it! I think I'm growing grayer by the minute. LOL
Another year...
Good morning
Nice, Nitasmom!!
My son told me that he asked to extend his time there!! He told me before that he might do that when he got there...even thought I still get surprised, sad...
Hi! For any wife that is in Bahrain, how long did the dependent entry approval form take? We're on week 6 now and I'm getting really antsy waiting lol. :P
That's right, I couldn't remember. He said it had been rather rough. Prayers to all :)
Laurie, Our son was finally able to come home in Sept after a year and a half. Truly know your pain. Fortunately we are looking at late summer and he will be back on US soil. Anxiously waiting for his transition leave to go through.Calls are few and far between. By the way, he says things have gotten tense because of an anniversary of some sort.. Keeping all our servicemen in our prayers as they go through this difficult time. Keeping you especially in our prayers.
It is terribly hard not to see your sailor for so long. Ours left in August 2013 and we miss him every single day. We do hear from him either through text messages or personal messages. Sometimes we Skype with him which really helps since we can see and hear him. It is hard but every little thing helps. I know sending care packages has helped both our sailor with homesickness and me with my need to still be his mom. Hang in there--we are all here for you!
