Hi all, my name is Darlene. My son is in his 4th week of boot camp and I'm completely new to the military life. I'm excited for him but nervous for the unknown. I'm open to any advice you are willing to share. Thanks.

Has anyone else's SR gone through the PASS class? Mine started this week; he's had a rough go with a talkative ship and he's taking it to learn how to let go of the "big brother" trying to keep everyone out of trouble...and getting into trouble because it's not his job. It's also pushed his PIR a week, and I don't want him to feel defeated. From what I can find, success rate and all of that is really good, but I am at the, "helpless mom, can't help but worry," stage of BC. Any tips or…

Good evening! Will after boot camp graduation will the sailors check their large duffle bags at the airport and then be able to take a backpack as a carry-on. Or does she have to take everything as carry-on? She is trying to figure out what she would like us to bring to graduation. She will be going to Goose Creek, SC. Thanks in advance.

Can someone give me some direction? Advice Before You Start this Journeytag:navyformoms.ning.com,2023-05-26:1971797:Topic:113375682023-05-26T18:58:06.237Zsmom16https://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/smom16

found this on the computer when i openned it this morning (attachment). My husband is stressed beyond belief and this is totally not him. We have "You should reenlist" coming in all directions, from the navy, from family. Everyone thinks it's a good idea and not sure why we are hesitant. Sacrifice isn't the same for everyone. Suffering in some sense comes with the job. Not saying that people aren't made for this job, but everyone has to put something on the back burner to live this life.…

found this on the computer when i openned it this morning (attachment). Not saying that people aren't made for this job, but everyone has to put something on the back burner to live this life. Typically it's family that suffers. You are frustrated your kids don't call, my kids are upset daddy is never home. But meanwhile they say "you should stay in" " 10 more years and you will get a pension"...

Please. Think before you speak. It effects people and may be putting more of a strain then you think. These big decisions effect their whole lives in more than just positive ways. Trust me. They know they can get that pension, but they also see what they are missing, and a part of it is probably the relationship they had with you.

Don't call and say call me back. Call and say you love them, you are proud, they doing great. Don't make them feel guilty that they just can't manage it right now. I'm a mom too, I feel you. Just realize you could be inevertently pushing them away. They have way more than they should on their plates.

Please don't take this the wrong way. Not everyone does this, I've been guilty more times then I can count. Just a reminder to hug your sailor, if not in person then virtually. Leave them a text even though you know they won't see it for 3 months. It will make them smile down the road. Feel free to share.
Logistics when leaving for boot camptag:navyformoms.ning.com,2023-05-20:1971797:Topic:113371782023-05-20T20:25:48.684Zsmom16https://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/smom16

We will be driving our daughter to Jacksonville FL on July 23rd the day before she leaves for boot camp. I think but don’t know, that she must stay with other recruits that night. Where do you suggest that we stay? Thanks for all of your great information

Hello, I am needing some assistance, things have gone astray since my son married his wife. Her and her family have alienated me as to any information or preparations for his departure to BC on May 30th. I did (when I got to speak to him) convey the importance of him getting information to me once there. But I know for a fact that I will receive no updates or 411 grom his wife once he is gone. Please help me with outlets of information to keep me updated.
Thanks, heartbroken Mom.
