Hello everyone, I have a couple questions first my son that graduates on May 7. I have a watch as a graduation gift for him. Can I take that with me to the graduation on base or do I need to leave it in the hotel and give it to him later. It also says small purses and small camera bags are allowed. Does anyone have any idea of how small or how big it can be. And is a small tripod allowed?

Yes, once you arrive and get settled, there's two lines.  One for coffee and snacks.  And another for photo souvenirs.  I don't know if they'll still have the desk calendar.  It's a 2026 year at a glance with their division photo at the top.  They may have a little something different each time, as at some point, the calendar will be outdated 🤷‍♀️. I got it for my husband to put in his office 🥰.  Your sailor will have had a chance to buy a photo package during his time at boot.  You should get a call after he passes Battlestations and again the day before graduation.  So, make a note to ask him how many photos and what sizes.  I kept a little notebook of questions, because I would get so happy just to chat, I would forget what I wanted to ask 😅. Also, keep the address of where you're staying handy.  He'll need to turn that into command for liberty approval, if he has off-base liberty.  I think most of them get at least one night these days, but it just depends on where he's going next.  He'll let you know thos details.  They also had some commemoration coins for sale.  I got two as a gift for my sailor.  I got his division coin and a general US Navy one.  They also had state coins, but I figured he wouldn't care as much about that one.  We didn't get division T-shirts, but the order form is still online.  I'll probably get him one for Christmas.

After Liberty, when you bring him back to base, I would recommend waiting it out in the line to do on base drop off.  It just buys you a little more visiting time, which is nice.  Some people opted to just drop their sailors right outside the gate, and they walked on base by themselves.  We wanted to enjoy every moment we could, so the traffic line was worth it.  We got to visit while waiting, so win/win in my book.

Unless they changed it, the back of the division T-shirt was the division flag which they all work together to design, so it is a nice little souvenir.

I assume it's still the back, but yes, it is still their hand drawn/designed division flag art 😃

Where can I watch the upcoming PIR?

First of all this is the website for Recruit Training Command if you have not familarized yourself with it yet https://www.bootcamp.navy.mil  - or - Home

This information is at the bottom of the Graduation page

Graduation Live Stream

Our graduation ceremony will be live streamed Thursday at 0900 Central. Use either our Facebook or YouTube link to view.

Here is a link to the saved video online from one of the previous PIRs - https://www.youtube.com/live/AKdiu_QPRto?si=w3Q1R4B-TYpPsnj8

You should be able to click on that link for one of the saved videos. One benefit of watching the saved videos versus the live stream, you can fast forward through the ceremony to just get highlights of what should happen.

Thank you so much!

Sherrilynn, I am so excited for you and your Sailor!  I just wanted to add one thing to this discussion.  We picked up our tickets the day before and they gave us a pass to the NEX that was valid all weekend.  We were able to shop there and I bought my favorite pair of pjs!  If you can get there the day before, I highly recommend it - takes away stress from the morning of!
