While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Kristine, you are a brave, brave woman to keep those boots in your house....I learned when I was working at Starbucks and bringing bags of coffee grounds home to compost that they can take odor out of anything. I left them in my car after it had a trip to the mechanic and came back smelling like a oil pit. Forgot about the grounds in the car, got in the next morning...just coffee smell...which doesn't stick like oil! just fill those boots with coffee grounds, leave them on the porch a few days.It works on stinky fridges, too.
Two more months! In a month they'll start that packing up, getting out stuff, that starts making it real that they are headed home! I know a couple of Docs in San Antonio watching that date pretty closely as well. One of them asks about you pretty regularly.

My parents met and married in San Diego...in the 1930's! she was there as a nurse "intern" to nurse a cholera epidemic, he entered the Navy in about 1927 ( he was sooo young , the recruit picture looks like my grandson did at 14!) and was there still I guess. My mother LOVED San Diego...when they were stationed in Corpus Christi TX before I was born, it reminded them of SD so he retired there after my birth in Newfoundland. I think it also has something to do with my mother being born and raised in Idaho and swearing to never see snow again.

Welcome Central Mass Mom...may we call you CMM? yes, some times those leaves just have to be practical, with all that snow, he'd hate to miss his travel connections.
I'm not a scrapbooker, but I am a family historian. I have binders for all the history, and I've started one for each kid, using those acid free holders and dividers etc,, big acid free plastic pockets that snap into the binders to hold alot of my son's military stuff. He actually comes out to the office and can find it and puts stuff in it! so..that's a bonus.

Natalie - don't know if you have a Michael's crafts where you live but they have wonderful, leather bound scrap books for each of the branches of the military. They are $40 but if you look in the Sunday paper there's usually a 40-50% off coupon for any item of your choice! I'm not a scrapbooker but I thought it would be a good place to put all the items I have been holding on to since bc! Picures, awards, programs etc! Otherwise that stuff will just sit in a box! I thought at least then I can display the book and have a look when I am missing my cub. He's stationed in Naples, Italy butis currently deployed to the Comfort in Haiti!

That's the 2nd quake this week, they had one off the coast of Japan a day or so ago, was thinking Mark was probably happy to have his cub at home with him!
I'm pup-sitting Annabelle a former foster chi-weenie of mine, her people are in Hawaii of all places! Sure hope the tsunami is nothing more than a bigger than usual wave although it looks as though they are fearful it's a major one. Keeping the islands and all on them in my thoughts and prayers today!

I'm watching the news! now the tsunamis...in Hawaii...boy, bet those Navy guys are jumping today. Wonder if my son will remain in SA? this is what he trains those folks for...
I'm having a house concert tomorrow and hoping the kid comes in from SA to do the front yard, it may be brown winter color, but it could be raked! I have to work tonight, I'm not raking too!
