Thanks for the welcome Dee and Janet R. My son has been working out on his own and with his recruiter so hopefully that will go well. I think the thing he is most worried about is the swimming. He's not much of a swimmer ... odd for someone interested in the Navy :) It was very difficult for me right away but each day I get more used to the idea. I'm sure when the day comes for him to leave it will be a sad day for me.
I have a question regarding medical insurance. I'm not sure I understood what the recruiter told me. I though that he said that we should be sure to take him off our health insurance before he goes to bootcamp. Does anyone know how to handle health insurance?
Thank you so much for your help SMSantens and kind words Dee. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it and will give them a call today. Im sure I'll be needed a lot more help when we arrive so I will look forward to having someone to talk to.Do you love it there? He has been there for 2 weeks and said it is by far the most beautiful place he has seen.
Hi Everyone. I just spent hours reading the posts on this board, staring at the end and reading my way up! I know, it's crazy but I was compelled to read it all! My daughter is DEP, just went to MEPS last week, in the middle of an ice storm. The classifier was very thorough and directed my daughter into the CTI position. I am so pleased, from all I've seen this is a great fit for her. Sounds like a very challenging training program. Part of me worries that she'll devote enough time to be successful. (She's one of those kids that does the bare minimum but seems to get by ok!) But I'm not going to worry about that, I'm sure the Navy will do a fine job convincing her to work hard....(smile).
Glad to see so much information and some activity in this group. My daughter leaves for BC in August, so we have a really long way to go until she's through all her training. But, I am so proud and so excited for her. She has so much opportunity, excellent training, new places and people....it's so suited to her that sometimes I almost laugh about it! I'm sure many of you understand.
So, I'll be around for a long time! I look forward to getting acquainted with other Navy Moms!
Dee - It took me months, but I finally got around to make my post about the crazy crap that CTI do in the fleet. It's up in the discussion area....
